I work with adults who are motivated to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in how they respond to life’s challenges. Many come in feeling overwhelmed by ruminating thoughts, anxiety, panic symptoms, OCD, phobias, life transitions, low confidence, or difficulty managing attention and emotional regulation. I also work with individuals undergoing ketamine treatment who are experiencing relief and want structured support and skills to help maintain progress. Clients I work with are often seeking to feel more present, build confidence, and move through daily life with greater clarity, relief, and confidence.

That being said, my work's focus on identity and perspective in general is applicable to anybody in any scenario, and is especially effective at managing anxiety, improving self-esteem, and combating depression.
It's really hard to know yourself. To know what you want, who you are, and how to move through the world with a sense of confident authenticity. Learning to understand and accept oneself can feel like a never-ending uphill battle. Even once you know yourself, it can be hard to actually be that person - especially in the face of lack of acceptance from others - and an inability to be yourself always prevents you from consistent satisfaction. If you are someone who is struggling with their sense of identity or how they show up, both individually and in their relationships, then I am the right therapist for you.

Hi, I'm Emma! I provide anxiety therapy from a trauma-informed lens for teens and adults using introspection and humor to challenge thoughts about yourself and those around you. If you're ready to stop doubting yourself, and build confidence through effective coping strategies, then you're in the right place!

I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families heal their lives and relationships. My approach is compassionate, supportive and hopeful. It is my belief that you are not "flawed" or lacking, but rather are constrained by burdens and beliefs that are the result of painful experiences. Together we remove those constraints so that you can experience freedom, wholeness and joy. When working with couples, my goal is to help remove constraints to intimacy and to help you and your partner create a relationship that is honest and fulfilling. Often personal healing must occur in order for this to happen.

Hello and welcome! My name is Julia; I work with adolescents and young adults navigating life transitions, identity development, and the pressure to have things “figured out.” Many come in feeling stuck, overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or noticing patterns in their thoughts, emotions, or relationships that no longer feel helpful. I also support LGBTQ+ clients seeking an affirming, grounded space. In our work together, we slow things down, make sense of these experiences, and develop both insight and practical tools to help you move forward with more clarity and intention.

After almost 30 years in mental health, I'm still passionate about the work I do. With that said, I'm here to help with the problems that have brought you to therapy. Gathering information and developing our relationship, along with trust and creating a safe space to share are my strengths in helping others. I use various approaches to assist clients. Along with this, I enjoy educating about how we learn and form in an inter-generational family system and how we can transmit problems in that family system unconsciously. This can inform and empower growth and change.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
