After almost 30 years in mental health, I'm still passionate about the work I do. With that said, I'm here to help with the problems that have brought you to therapy. Gathering information and developing our relationship , along with trust and creating a safe space to share are my strengths in helping others. I use various approaches to assist clients. Along with this, I enjoy educating about how we learn and form in an inter-generational family system and how we can transmit problems in that family system unconsciously. This can inform and empower growth and change.

I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples , and families, most of whom were looking to feel better in some way, be more effective in creating change, and feel more connected to the people around them.
***Teletherapy sessions only at this time.*** Everyone needs someone to talk to, whether it's a family member, friend, spiritual leader, or someone else with whom you feel connected. If you've ever felt better after getting something off your chest, then you know what I mean. Therapy is often a place where we are free to share and explore the issues that challenge most of us at one time or another: relationships (romantic, family, etc.), stress, life transitions, parenting, anxiety, and more. My approach is one that respects where you are in your process, building the therapeutic relationship to help you move forward.

I am proud that I can offer a truly custom experience for individuals, couples or marriage issues.
I understand that we can benefit from help if we feel stuck, overwhelmed or not sure where to turn. Sometimes people get stuck in patterns that may have been helpful but have become limiting or even destructive. I believe therapy can provide deep healing which allows for greater flexibility, ease, self knowledge and enjoyment of life. With 20+ years of experience, I have been successful in helping my clients through depression, substance abuse, anxiety, panic and grief and loss or just gaining more satisfaction with their lives. It has been an honor for me to do this.

I work with individuals, couples , and families.
Crises or life stressors are often what initially bring people to therapy. Others come to work on old issues that continue to re-surface, causing problems for the individuals themselves or in their relationships with family, or at work. Many people find therapy to be a place where they can work on increasing personal insight and self-awareness in order to live more fulfilling lives, and work toward achieving their highest potential. Whatever brings you here, therapy can be a place to help you restore balance in your life and live life to the fullest. In therapy, we work together to bring about lasting change.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
