Hi, I am Ivette Betancourt, Hablo, Español, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over thirty years of experience in therapy and Social work in the Hartford area. I work with couples, individuals, families and children. The last 10 years I have been a dedicated clinician/ and supervisor. I am bilingual in both Spanish and English, bicultural, and able to work with a number of different cultures and beliefs. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, who specializes in Trauma, Anxiety, and Behavioral Health. My client will be someone who is ready to take on the therapeutic journey. As the passenger, my goal is to help individuals to navigate through past trauma and experiences in order to develop healthy coping mechanisms.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist who specializes in working with trauma, anxiety and substance abuse. I utilize various models in therapy such as CBT, DBT, experiential, and solution focused. I am EMDR trained and have over 7 years of clinical experience working with children, parents, couples, individuals and families.

As an LCSW, I am dedicated to helping adolescents, adults, couples and families to cope with daily challenges and transitions. I strive to help create a greater sense of overall peace, hope and self-awareness. It is my honor to be able to work with clients who are brave enough to show me into their world, so that I can help create and support better coping. I specialize in addressing complex trauma, anxiety and panic, depression, OCD, reactivity, addiction, problem sexual behaviors, and other life transitions. I also have a personal interest in working with the donor-conceived population, not parent expected and adoptees.

I have 23 years of experience working with children, couples, adult individuals, and families. I have particular specialty in trauma and attachment difficulties, parenting issues, couples work, anxiety and depression, issues related to grief and loss, play therapy with children, sand tray work, and complex family system issues. I also use therapeutic art and other 'no talk' modalities.

Maryland location is in person ONLY! I provide support for children and teens who are struggling with anger, stress and self-esteem issues. Individual sessions will help youth to recognize unhealthy patterns, learn new skills and process feelings. Parent sessions will help to educate parents on the tools that the youth have learned and to provide psychoeducation. Family sessions are provided to help youth practice skills and for the family to make change and strengthen the family dynamics. I strive to provide "personalized treatment by a caring professional." I offer a wide range of psychological services for adults and provide over 25 years of clinical experience. My knowledge of deep developmental issues can also help you to improve your family/ interpersonal relationships, work relationships and guide you towards greater personal success. I was raised to believe that richness of exposures and depth of trainings make for the best professionals. Before I became a therapist myself, I earned a Ph.D. in an allied field and spent 16 years teaching, at UCLA, USC, and Antioch University West; then I went back to school for clinical training. I specialized in children and families as a base and then went further for psychoanalytic training, one program for adults, another for children and adolescents.

I am a therapist because I believe in therapy - I know that getting the right treatment, understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and learning to make changes can make all the difference in the world. I know that, through therapy, people can truly heal. I use insight-oriented therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy to help you understand yourself and your parts, and heal emotional wounds. I am also trained in EMDR, CBT and DBT.
