My approach to psychotherapy is one that is collaborative, integrative, and affirming. I truly believe that the therapeutic
relationship
is a primary factor in therapeutic change. What that means is that you must feel as though I am a good fit to help you achieve your goals. Although my work primarily focuses on LGBTQ+ issues, I also believe in the value of taking a relational approach within therapy to examine our behaviors as they arise in session to determine one's patterns of relating. I believe that if given an affirming space to explore these dynamics, it can help facilitate change leading to a more meaningful life.

I currently have a short waiting list for new clients & do not have any evening availability. Change can be difficult and finding your way to therapy can be both scary and overwhelming. Together we can work to create change through a supportive and collaborative therapeutic
relationship
. Often times, we maintain cycles of behavior and relationships that create a feeling of imbalance, affecting our ability to face the difficulties that are thrown our way. We will work to increase insight into your thoughts and behaviors and find a path toward a positive future by utilizing strengths and supports that you already possess.

Hey there, Are you feeling anxious, burnt out, in a Fog? Most people you know would think you have your life together, you have a good marriage/
relationship
, a great job, happy children. Deep down, you know something is missing. You're tired, tired of wearing a mask. Maybe you have a tendency to make yourself small to make others feel comfortable. No one seems to question how you really are. You may feel lost in many ways as an individual, feeling alone, anxious, resentful and misunderstood. In therapy together, I can help you clear the confusion, get unstuck and feel motivated to take action for something more.

Every dream, disappointment, oddity, or question from you contributes to our understanding of the 'problem', for you, your child, or you and your
partner
.
I was raised to believe that richness of exposures and depth of trainings make for the best professionals. Before I became a therapist myself, I earned a Ph.D. in an allied field and spent 16 years teaching, at UCLA, USC, and Antioch University West; then I went back to school for clinical training. I specialized in children and families as a base and then went further for psychoanalytic training, one program for adults, another for children and adolescents.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
