relationship
development by assisting them in identifying their
relationship
goals and providing them with knowledge, skills, tools, and strategies to help them achieve those goals.
My therapy journey has certainly not been an ordinary one. Twelve years ago, I made the decision to pack up my whole life into one suitcase and move from South Africa to the US, where I now have a beautiful family and a career that I love and care deeply for. I started out as an actor in NYC (I even had a few small bit parts here and there on TV), but I quickly realized that what I adore more than being on stage is working with clients 1:1 and seeing them thrive! I strive to make each and every client I work with feel seen, heard, understood, and cared for.

LIFE IS DIFFICULT, My psychotherapy addresses your problems of living. Problems arise in three general areas: in your
relationship
; in your career or in job performance; and in the intrapersonal sphere (emotions, dissatisfaction with self).
My approach is to engage in problem-solving through full 60-minute sessions across a brief time. When significant relief is achieved, and you are in a more emancipated place, you will be better able to anticipate and attenuate emerging problems, yourself. Should patterns that interfere with your functioning or self-esteem return, booster sessions are a solution.
I offer housecalls (home or office).

It is my belief that change comes from the connection of the body, mind and spirit and through the strength and trust of the therapeutic
relationship
.
I believe that every person has the right to live a happy, healthy and purposeful life. There are times when challenges get in the way of this. Happiness is not a straight trajectory, there are twists and turns and sometimes barriers that get in the way. I feel my purpose is to walk and support my client on their path of self discovery and assist them in acquiring skills that leads to life long changes. Self discovery and self empowerment is the key to change. I hold a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore themselves. Healing is like peeling an onion with many layers. We are complex.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
