Things at home are more stressful than ever—trying to find balance in the midst of endless demands is overwhelming. You are doing your best, but the whole house feels on edge, especially you and your
partner
. Certain pre-existing relational dynamics are now magnified and there’s a storm brewing inside of you. You're feeling angry, resentful and unsupported. You know you play a part in this dance, you’re ready to roll up your sleeves to right this ship, but can’t do it alone anymore. There's a part of you that knows you could be better and another part that is so lost. You need some clarity and guidance.

relationship
stress. I primarily specialize in working with late-adolescent to adult males struggling to navigate a successful future - one that often times becomes murky through these types of lenses.

MARINA KLIMOVA CURRENTLY HAS A WAITLIST I work with individuals, families and
couples
. I work from an emotional perspective, which means I help people sort out and understand where their feelings come from. When people are able to make sense of their emotions, they can let go of old wounds and find new feelings that lead to a more positive and compassionate connection with themselves and others. It is my belief that in order for the client to feel better, a therapist has to both understand the client conceptually and be emotionally attuned. I strive to create a strong empathic connection with my clients.

I currently work with individuals,
couples
and families in private settings.
My clinical focus is PTSD, developmental trauma and addictive disorders. I combine traditional "talk" therapy with QEEG-informed Neurofeedback and EMDR, where appropriate. This offers you the best chance of healing past emotional wounds, alleviating symptoms, and living more fully in the present. The subtle, transformative power of Neurofeedback helps many clients resolve the traumatic stress, fear and anxiety that often underly behavioral and addictive disorders. EMDR is another powerful tool that can help resolve emotional trauma, improve functioning, and help you become more present-focused.

I have over twenty years of experience applying this approach to work with individuals,
couples
, and families.
Clients come to me with many different issues: from parenting to personal and from relationships to reentering the work force. You may be experiencing concerns in these facets of your life or you may be struggling with the particular demands of your own life. But the foundation of my practice is that you can most effectively face and overcome your challenges in a nonjudgmental environment where you can build a trusting and respectful
relationship
with your therapist. By building that connection, you can begin reconnecting with those you love and moving your own life forward.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
