Much of my practice technique works to restore self esteem and dignity which are problems as a result of trauma and addiction. My personal experience is conducive to the work that takes place. I create a positive therapeutic alliance that is safe, and confidential. Addictions are treatable. Everyone can get sober, and in doing so you can live a "Quality of Life" that you deserve. Make the call and we can discuss your situation, confidentially and together make a plan to get; "Clean and Sober ". My promise to you that we can make it affordable.

If you are reading my profile, you are taking responsibility for your mental health and well-being, which is a huge step. I believe that individuals who take an active role in the counseling process feel the most fulfilled and satisfied with the results. If working with me is successful, you will feel more empowered to face life’s challenges in the future without my support or intervention. But for now, I will be with you every step of the way to help you cultivate the perspective and coping skills that will propel you towards achieving your goals.

You've taken care of everyone else. Now, this is the time for you. Often people reach out for therapy at a time in their lives when they are in transition and ready to make changes that will better themselves. Patterns of negative thinking and self-sabotaging behaviors can make you feel stuck and often can get in the way of living your best possible life. My goal is to help you understand the root of your anxiety, depression, substance abuse, self-image issues and/or trauma and to work through these problems so that you can become 'unstuck' and move forward in a more positive, self-freeing and fulfilling direction.

Seeking support takes courage, so congratulations on taking that first step! Psychotherapy is a collaborate process where you and I will work together to help you succeed through transitions, get the most out of your relationships, and find greater fulfillment in your life. You will be met with warmth and compassion so that you are able to explore your feelings openly in a safe, non-judgmental space. I work from a relational and psychodynamic perspective, which often stimulates discussion around your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, in order to identify unwanted repeating patterns in your life.

Hello! I am currently working remote only. I am licensed in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Florida. I take a supportive and goal oriented approach to working with my clients. I believe that treatment should consist of not only addressing the symptoms that are causing problems in your life, but also digging deeper and gaining an understanding of the root of the challenges that you are facing.

Your mind matters. The mind- and the thoughts contained- determines a destiny. How badly do you want to address your compulsive eating? To what length would you go to rescue your relationship? What would it feel like to be free of your self-defeating thoughts? Using cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and evidence-driven, proven strategies, we work to advocate and coach clients to create a vision of how they would like to feel, and together, draw a map of how to get there.

Are you new to therapy, and looking for the most advanced neuroscience-based interventions available? Or, have you tried talk therapy and made progress, but ultimately felt that it wasn’t enough? Have you returned to using alcohol or other drugs despite your best efforts in recovery? What if there were a way of reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, trauma and attention problems that could complement talk therapy and medication? A new approach to treatment called “neurofeedback” yields promising results of this nature.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
