" I enjoy working with men and women of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.
Welcome! I specialize in helping individuals with anxiety-related problems (including panic, specific fears and general anxiety), those who've suffered traumatic losses or are experiencing life transitions (such as divorce, job loss, military discharge, illness or retirement). I bring 20 years of experience and skills to my work but also know it's the relationship with each client - the caring, trust and collaboration - that is key to recovery and personal growth. Many people prefer to contact me at first by email and we may email several times before you decide to schedule an appointment. That's fine.

I help women in midlife and beyond define and fulfill the meaning and purpose for the next phase of their lives.
Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Therapy has worked well for you in the past and now it is needed again. You look in the mirror and feel puzzled by this stranger looking back at you. Getting out of bed each morning is becoming more difficult. You feel invisible. Life has become totally overwhelming. You support everyone else, and yet you feel completely drained. You have lost direction, and feel sad, lonely, and miserable. You want to start taking risks, and absolutely need to make changes in your life, in order for you to feel fulfilled! It is time for you to get unstuck and lead a meaningful and purposeful life.

I have specific experience working with men and women who may be considering a significant change or transition.
I specialize in working with individuals who may be experiencing some sort of transition or change in their lives. This may include issues related to work, depression/anxiety and/or sexual/gender orientation. I began my career as an independent counselor and over time, transitioned into a corporate healthcare setting. I utilize a 'coaching' approach which focuses on current issues and the creating of real-time strategies to address these issues. My clients are often focused on career issues, work/life balance and the search for an understanding of oneself more fully.

My primary area of expertise is with children, adolescents, young adults, families and adult women .
Life presents us with many challenges and sometimes we fail to see opportunities in these challenges. We also often have difficulty accessing our own internal resources and reaching out to external supports. All of us wish for purpose, hope and joy in our lives. I believe that psychotherapy can address these goals. Therapy will empower you to look to your strengths, to reach into your own resiliency, to find resources in your life that can nourish and support you. To do this, we will work together to create change that is lasting and meaningful.

Life can be messy! I would like to help you feel more grounded and supported to navigate the challenges. My interests include working with young adults—maybe you are struggling to adjust to college, working, “adulting,” or having relationship issues. I am also passionate about working with women on maternal wellness and motherhood struggles. I have completed specialized perinatal training through PSI and offer video sessions, which many of my mothers find convenient when juggling family and/or work. Please know that you are not alone. Therapy can help to release that “heaviness” you are carrying around.

Growing up you may have fantasized and planned out how your life as a woman would be -starting a career, meeting "the one", getting married, having kids, and living happily ever after. Then, you started "adulting", and nothing is going as planned. You may be single or unsure about your relationship. Maybe you're having trouble starting a family. There could be feelings of guilt or shame because you're not overjoyed about your baby or family. You are struggling with your pregnancy or your postpartum transition. You are nervous, afraid, and want to feel better but don't know how. Or maybe you're just trying to figure out life. You don't have to feel this way forever. You can feel like yourself again and find your way.

How can I find a therapist in West Hartford?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
