I work with adults who have difficulties with depression, anxiety, phobias, marital and other relationship conflicts
In working with children who are having problems at home and/or at school, I develop a specific plan with rewards for the child indicating which behaviors are to be changed so that the child, family, and school will know exactly what is expected and progress can be measured.

So many of our problems have their root in isolation and anxiety, and that is something we can address together.
I work with men, women, couples and adolescents. I know people have jobs, and so my hours include work on the weekends and evenings. I have a sense of humor, and I'm flexible in my approach, while having trained in the classical psychoanalytic and psychotherapy traditions. I have over 20 years of experience, with a broad range of expertise and experience.

Whether your challenge is based in your relationship with yourself or with others, this kind of conflict and the avoidance thereof can sometimes lead to symptoms of depression or anxiety.
Combining modalities to meet the needs of my patients is what I do best. Therapy is not one size fits all, and I take the time to know and understand each of my clients, hear what they say, and design an approach unique to that individual. My mission is to hold space, allow for reflection, and bear witness as my patients find the answers that lie within.

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, body image, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ issues, substance use, sexual health and reproductive issues, with a focus in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
Welcome all! I am happy to have you here. Celebrate yourself for seeking support during these challenging times. While it may feel overwhelming with the amount of information on the website, take a few deep breaths and ground yourself before you begin. A lot of the work I do begins with checking into how you are doing, where is your body currently at, and what do you need in this current moment. Healing begins from within. I love meeting clients where they’re at and allowing their strengths to shine and guide the work. I enjoy incorporating holistic modalities. I am a Reiki Level 1 practitioner that offers energy healing in session.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
