We won’t just sit and talk about your week; we will confront the cognitive distortions and societal norms that keep you stuck in a loop.
That light at the end of the tunnel? We aren’t going to wait for it—we’re going to build the path out. I use a directive approach to challenge your distortions and tackle issues at the root. No fluff, just the work required to get you back on your feet.

I support all pathways to recovery including independent, Buddhist-inspired, CBT-oriented, and 12-step programs.
Are you questioning your relationship to alcohol? Is your substance use causing harm in your life? Have you tried to cut down or quit ... and felt like you can't? Realizing you may have an addiction, and that it may be harming or even controlling your life, is scary. It is also the first step towards change. By finding the right counselor to talk to about your substance use, you can find the insight and motivation to make the desired changes you are looking for in your life.

You put on a brave face for others saying, "I'm fine", You suffer in silence and You hope time will make things better. The only emotions that can hurt You are the ones You don't acknowledge. Unanticipated life events, relationship struggles, grief or things You "just cannot identify" cause You to feel anxious, isolated, angry, frightened, disconnected or unworthy. You are simply human, like the rest of us, wanting to feel peaceful, engaged, inspired, connected, valued and confident. I invite You to make the self-supporting gesture of contacting me so we can collaborate, and You can obtain the support you desire. www.clearlifect.com

I’ve spent the past 10 years working with teens and families through all kinds of life’s ups and downs — anxiety, family stress, identity questions, you name it. What I’ve learned is that therapy works best when it’s real, honest, and feels like a good fit. I’m kind, funny, and a little bit curious by nature — which means I’ll ask questions, but I’ll also listen and laugh with you when you need it. Building trust takes time, and that’s something I value deeply. It doesn’t matter what degrees I have hanging on the wall if you don’t feel like you can talk to me. So, let’s give it a shot and see if the shoe fits.

I often employ cognitive behavioral and mindfulness strategies with a non-judgmental approach to further develop confidence and self esteem.
Welcome! If you are here, chances are that you are looking for help. That's okay! Everyone needs help sometimes. In my experience, it's better to ask for it and get it than to struggle and continue to beat yourself up over things. Even for people who don't believe they need counseling/therapy, there are many things they could work on to improve themselves. Whether it's relationships, school or career performance, problem solving or just wanting to become a better person, I believe I can help. Don't you deserve a better, happier life?

My brand of therapy is all about real human connection. Need a hype girl or a cheerleader, I'm on it. Need some tough love and honesty, also there. Just need a listening ear and some reassurance that you aren't alone on this wild ride of a planet, yeah, I get it. Therapy should be about YOU. No AI, no filters, just us sharing space for all that spins your world. Very happily queer and nontraditional relationship friendly! Yes, that's a nod to you, ENM folks. Currently, I am currently open to new clients and am in network with Aetna, Optum (Connecticare, United, and Oxford), and Husky. OON friendly.

No two people are the same, and so I work creatively using trauma-informed therapeutic approaches from psychodynamic, attachment, mindfulness, IFS, EMDR, and cognitive-behavioral therapies uniquely tailored to you.
I specialize in the really hard stuff life throws our way. I work with adults, college students, and teens affected by grief and loss, complex trauma (abuse and neglect) and PTSD, serious and chronic health conditions (like cancer, ALS, MS, MD), disability, and other big life changes and challenges resulting in depression and anxiety. I believe that our inability to control what happens to us is not something to be overcome. Instead, it is the reality of life that we all live within. This is where the real work of being a person begins. And this is where good, meaningful, compassionate therapy comes in. I'm glad you're here.

I believe that the more you put into therapy, the more you get out of it. Therapy is not solely a place to vent, but an avenue to strategize real behavioral changes to improve your life and relationships. By making a conscious effort to implement those changes outside of the therapy office and taking responsibility for yourself, you are most likely to benefit from treatment. I am a masters-level, Connecticut-licensed clinician with over 20 years of experience in outpatient and residential treatment. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and a clinical supervisor.

Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable. You might not know exactly what to say or where to begin — that’s okay. We’ll figure it out together. I specialize in helping children, preteens, and young adults process trauma and overwhelming experiences. When hard things happen, they don’t just go away. They show up in anxiety, shutdown, big emotions, relationship struggles, or feeling stuck. In our work, we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable, helping you make sense of what you’ve been carrying and loosen its hold.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists
How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?
Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
