Hello and thank you for stopping by to read my profile! With over 20 years of experience, I know that life has no shortage of struggle, but I believe that connection is what makes the difference. We all deserve a space where we can feel supported. Where we can be ourselves without fear of judgement so that we can navigate life's struggles in a way that feels comfortable and safe. It is through this support that we can learn and even re-learn how to love ourselves and live a life we are happy to lead.

That light at the end of the tunnel? We aren’t going to wait for it—we’re going to build the path out. I use a directive approach to challenge your distortions and tackle issues at the root. No fluff, just the work required to get you back on your feet.

My brand of therapy is all about real human connection. Need a hype girl or a cheerleader, I'm on it. Need some tough love and honesty, also there. Just need a listening ear and some reassurance that you aren't alone on this wild ride of a planet, yeah, I get it. Therapy should be about YOU. No AI, no filters, just us sharing space for all that spins your world. Very happily queer and nontraditional relationship friendly! Yes, that's a nod to you, ENM folks. Currently, I am currently open to new clients and am in network with Aetna, Optum (Connecticare, United, and Oxford), and Husky. OON friendly.

As a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I work with adults who are navigating the complex challenges of substance use. My ideal client is someone who is ready or even just curious about making a change. They may be struggling with alcohol, drugs, or the emotional toll addiction takes on relationships, work, and self-worth. Whether they're in the early stages of recovery or have tried before and are seeking a new path, their goal is clear: to reclaim control, find healing, and build a life rooted in purpose and connection.

I have over 20 years experience helping those with substance / alcohol use as well as those with Justice-Involved issues such as court-ordered treatment and evaluations.
Ready to try something different? I'm not like other therapists. I am a follower of No Bullshit Therapy (NBT) (YES, that is a real therapy!), which was developed to engage people who are cynical, suspicious, or unsure of what to expect from counseling and therefore reluctant to seek counseling. Looking to connect in a world filled with stress, relationship issues, anxiety and worry? If you are in a place in your life where you are ready to make some needed changes, want to reduce your alcohol or substance use or just stop, I can help you become a better version of who you are.

I've been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 30 years. I have been clinical director of mental health facilities and on the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine. I welcome clients 14 years of age and older -- individuals and couples, and offer you a warm personal approach focusing on your specific needs. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" model of practice or that therapy should be "a way of life." Therapy begins with a careful assessment and plan. If what we are doing isn't working for you, we change it.

Alcohol Use Therapists
Are there specific medications for alcohol use?
There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
