I have significant experience treating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem/body image, and general adjustment issues.
Sessions with me provide a safe, stable place for general mental health support & those hoping to explore their existing patterns of behaviors while learning new skills & healthier ways to function. I believe that a person’s mental health is impacted by the systems around them including family/friends, work, culture, etc. & that normal developmental changes & unplanned life transitions can strain our coping skills/supports. I approach each client as an individual & believe that everyone is the expert on their own life, so therapy goals/interventions are very collaborative. Please note: No afternoon/weekend openings at this time.

If you're stuck in a pattern of behavior or thinking that isn't working for you and you want to feel better, I welcome your call! I use traditional psychotherapy as well as EFT/acupressure and other body-based techniques to help clients improve quickly, because—over the years—my clients have taught me an important lesson: while some people heal from the head down, others heal from the body up! My ideal client is motivated, willing to do some homework between sessions, and wants more than “rent-a-friend” therapy. If you’re ready to “dig it out” rather than keep “living it out,” I’d love to work with you.

My work focuses on positive relationships - with yourself and others - based on compassion and fearless self-awareness. Even when we are thinking, feeling or doing things that we don't like, there is something about it all that makes sense. Uncovering the mystery of that logic is important to therapy. This process helps us come home to ourselves and to the present moment. I specialize in individual and couple goal oriented therapy. I also have considerable expertise in parent-child relationships, behavior management and emotional intelligence in children (see more at www.PeaceAtHomeParenting.com/our-experts).

I work with adults experiencing anxiety-related concerns, including chronic worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, OCD, phobias, trauma responses, stress, and low self-confidence.
I often work with people who feel stuck and overwhelmed. You may find yourself caught in “what if's,” “the shoulds,” or “I can’t” thinking, which makes it difficult to stay in the present moment or feel connected to others. Over time, overthinking often leads to avoidance, frustration, isolation, and shame, as well as showing up in the body. Together, we can work on learning to step back, challenge yourself, and develop new ways of thinking that can lead to more clarity, connection, confidence, and greater control in your life.

I specialize in the really hard stuff life throws our way. I work with adults, college students, and teens affected by grief and loss, complex trauma (abuse and neglect) and PTSD, serious and chronic health conditions (like cancer, ALS, MS, MD), disability, and other big life changes and challenges resulting in depression and anxiety. I believe that our inability to control what happens to us is not something to be overcome. Instead, it is the reality of life that we all live within. This is where the real work of being a person begins. And this is where good, meaningful, compassionate therapy comes in. I'm glad you're here.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel aligned with who you are. Many of my teen and adult clients are insightful, sensitive, and capable, yet struggle with anxiety, depression, motherhood, attachment wounds, academic stress, or relationship challenges. You may be used to caring for others, masking your needs, or pushing through instead of feeling supported. You’re looking for therapy that feels safe, real, and validating — not judgmental or distant — and you want to better understand yourself, your emotions, and your relationships.

I work through the Behavioral Wellness Clinic, and utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP), as well as elements from internal family systems (IFS), emotionally focused couples therapy (EFCT), and systems theory. Here at the clinic, I specialize in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using the evidence-based method Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP). Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
