I simply want perspective clients to know that I know how hard it is having to ask for help. That I work with people who have trauma, depression, anxiety and relationship issues because I too had those issues. My nervous system was out of sorts for years. After many years as a therapist I work very hard to ensure that everyone I work with feels safe and accepted as they are. Therapy, while challenging at times, should always feel like a safe place to be exactly as you are or otherwise this just won't work. I will do everything I can to help you reach your goals, while still working together in a way that feels comfortable.

I also have spent the last ten years exploring men's issues and couples dynamics.
In 1999 I created the following mission statement: "To create a safe space where individuals can explore the issues that are standing in the way of living more fulfilling and authentic lives." As a result, I have explored, studied and practiced a wide variety of techniques to address the mental/emotional aspects of our lives, as well as the physical and spiritual issues that can block potential, and the ability to relate effectively with others. It is always an honor to help clients transition through difficulty and to witness them living more fulfilling lives.

I work with men who are used to holding it all together—professionals, partners, and fathers who are dependable on the outside but feel stressed, disconnected, or not like themselves underneath. They’re often navigating relationship strain, irritability, or a quiet sense that something isn’t working anymore. Together, we go beyond surface-level coping to understand what’s driving these patterns and create meaningful, lasting change. Through focused, intentional work, they begin to feel more grounded, more connected, and more like themselves again.

Change is inevitable but the process of change can be difficult to navigate alone, whether as an individual, couple, or family. Often advice from friends or family only goes so far, and is not really the kind of help you are looking for when what used to feel comfortable or right no longer feels so good. I can help you address your unique situation, whether you want to focus on solutions in the present, longer term issues in the past, or your goals for the future.

Parents may feel concerned about their child’s behavior, emotions, or communication. Teens may feel misunderstood or overwhelmed. I also have a strong passion for supporting Black, Brown, and people of color in a space that honors their lived experiences and identity.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
