Reaching out for therapy can be difficult, and I have a lot of respect for the inherent grit it takes to begin this process. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, where you can speak openly, feel understood, and explore what’s going on in your life without judgment.

Carrying the weight of everyone else’s needs is not working anymore. You’re burnt out, overwhelmed, disconnected, and unsure who you are and finally ready for a change. Wanting peace, clarity, and direction is not selfish. When you are battling anxiety, people-pleasing, faith confusion, or cycles of low self-worth you remain stuck.
If this resonates, I want you to hear this: you’re not broken and there's a way forward that brings peace, clarity, and confidence back into your story.

I have been working as a therapist for over 16 years. I embrace the social work principle of starting where the client is and understanding each person's unique reality. I believe my clients are the experts in their own lives and take a person-centered approach.
I work with clients around a variety of issues including anxiety, depression and life transitions. My early career was spent working as a medical social worker in health care settings so I am also very comfortable working with chronic health issues and aging.

There are a several moments in your life that live in your memory, heart, and soul forever. Like your first kiss, your wedding day, your child’s first day of school, and the day of your child’s birth. The experience of childbirth is supposed to be positive and full of joy, but for some it is exactly the opposite. You prepared for baby, read books, bought the gear, and cautiously listened to advice. Instead you’re so tired, feeling isolated, lonely, scared, and worried most of the time. You feel like you will never be your self again and you’re not sure what to do to help yourself feel better and things you have tried aren’t helping.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel aligned with who you are. Many of my teen and adult clients are insightful, sensitive, and capable, yet struggle with anxiety, depression, motherhood, attachment wounds, academic stress, or relationship challenges. You may be used to caring for others, masking your needs, or pushing through instead of feeling supported. You’re looking for therapy that feels safe, real, and validating — not judgmental or distant — and you want to better understand yourself, your emotions, and your relationships.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
