I offer individual, couples, and
family
counseling, depending on the need.
I have a deep-rooted commitment to helping individuals from diverse backgrounds, backed by professional expertise in a variety of settings. But I also believe that clients are the experts on their own lives. I have worked with clients of all ages, from as young as three to late adulthood, in outpatient therapy settings; methadone clinics; intensive outpatient programs; inpatient psychiatric units, and in-home crisis intervention. One thing remains constant: the focus of therapy should be based on what YOU wish to work on.

My experience providing therapeutic and evaluation services in a variety of settings allows me to take a holistic approach to intervention, involving the whole
family
and multiple environments in which the person interacts.
Understanding your child's strengths and weaknesses can help prepare your child for success. I perform psychoeducational testing in the form of neuropsychological evaluations, assessment of learning disorders (including ADHD), social/emotional evaluations, autism evaluations, and personality assessments to facilitate treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults. Assessments are individualized in order to develop a greater understanding of each person and how they can expand on their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. I also provide therapy, utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques, while being mindful of how early attachment experiences influence later relationships.

My approach is one of meeting a teen or adult and their
family
where they are, understanding the root causes of substance use, depression, compulsive behaviors and "acting out" and coaching parents and loved ones to change
family
patterns so that the entire
family
can heal.
Thank you for reaching out for help, it is one of the most courageous actions any one can take. If you or a loved one is suffering with compulsions, addictive behaviors, depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement issues or any level of difficulty with adolescent substance abuse or behavioral problems I would love to be of service. I am grateful to have been a therapist for 34 years and to have the ability to engage even very resistant clients in the process of real and lasting freedom and health. My goal is to have you feeling better and improving your functioning quickly and I use many evidence based methods to these ends.

I blend different psychotherapy and coaching approaches, including
Family
Systems, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma-based, to move beyond problem-solving into a robust, deeper “wayfinding” process.
Imagine how differently you might feel if you could overcome the obstacles that keep you feeling stuck in your life and relationships. Patterns that no longer work for you can be reshaped and built upon to make the most of who you are and want to become. While we may explore the landscape of the past, my approach pairs a psychodynamic model with targeting your highest priority challenge, to achieve both momentum and relief. We can uncover what you want more of in your self and your relationships, and how to get there. I work with individuals, couples and families to help them build and shape their lives, partnerships and marriages.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
