My ideal client is an adult (18+) who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional or self-esteem issues, and these challenges could be impacting their motivation, relationships, and ability to transition smoothly through various life stages. They could be dealing with co-occurring conditions, where mental health and/or substance use recovery could be creating a cycle that seems difficult to break. This client seeks a supportive and empathetic environment where they can explore their feelings and behaviors without judgment.

Taking the step to seek therapy can be challenging and overwhelming. It marks the beginning of finding a safe and supportive space to process and work through the obstacles life presents. By exploring your past influences, current patterns, and inner beliefs, we can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your life.

I have 28+ years of experience working with individuals, families, and couples on various issues, such as anxiety, depression, communication enhancement and healthy relationships, grief and loss, substance abuse, anger management, divorce in the family, etc.
It takes a lot of courage and strength to enter therapy. I provide a safe, supportive, and positive environment where the sources of stress and life difficulties would be identified. Ways to work through and overcome life challenges would then be presented and focused on with the goal of improving your life one step at a time. I use an integrative approach, in which I draw upon various models of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral, humanistic, and mindfulness-based therapies. I feel that this is an effective way to work collaboratively with you to create a personalized approach that fits your unique needs and goals.

Feeling overwhelmed? Looking for a therapist isn't easy. You may be reading profile after profile thinking all of these people sound the same or may have no idea what any of this means. You’re not alone! Most people don’t care about the interventions or methods of therapy used. They just want to feel better! I believe the answer to feeling better lies in the connection. A good therapist is someone you can trust, open up to, and share yourself with, so that you can learn to overcome the challenges you are struggling with and can grow!

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
