With stress, depression ,anger or trauma, I have had the experience of providing direction for you to gain mastery over what appears uncontrollable.
You will select me as your psychologist not because I simply listen- but because together we will change, create, and organize your true self. After 30 plus years of working with clients in psychotherapy, I continue to look for the unexpected, the surprises, and the unknown, about the important people in your life and most of all, renewal within you. It is exciting to define new directions in a career or a relationship. As an older parent, I still look for overcoming the challenges in seeing how we all grow. I have had training in schools, agencies, and hospitals.

I primarily work with adults and young adults suffering from depression , anxiety, and/or addiction, in addition to those struggling with relational/communication issues. I take a highly personal, strengths-based, positive approach tailored to each client's individual needs. In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which directly targets negative thoughts, I use an acceptance-based approach by encouraging clients to accept, rather than negate, current thoughts patterns so that clients can move toward their values and start living meaningful and productive lives.

We specialize in working with individuals wrestling with anxiety, depression , trauma, ADHD, existential exploration, grief, workplace politics, and teen angst, eating disorders, substance abuse, and identity issues.
If you are struggling in life, chances are you have a diagnosis which is termed a psychiatric disorder- but diagnoses only define the negative aspects of who you are! In fact, most "disorders" have a wealth of amazingly positive traits also associated with them. Together, you and I will work to uncover your superpowers- those positive traits that diagnoses don't cover, and which make you amazing. Some of the therapies we incorporate into our practice include art therapy, play therapy, guided visualizations and rituals, narrative therapy, practical life skills (CBT), mindfulness (DBT) and other relaxation techniques.

I'm passionate about helping adults who experience various forms of anxiety and depression .
*IMMEDIATE TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE* Anxiety is so hard. You can't sleep. Your heart races. You feel sad most of the time. You feel like you're forcing yourself to do everyday things. Maybe you tried medication but you don't feel like it's helping. You may even be finding comfort in drugs or alcohol because they are the only things that make you feel better or not feel anything at all. These are some of the many realities of what it’s like to live with anxiety or depression .

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
