“Everyone deserves a witness to their pain”. That is something I learned years ago and have tried to live by. I spent 6.5 years in the Navy which changed my life I am licensed in mental health and addictions, having worked in both outpatient and residential care for the past 14 years. My therapy style tends to be more eclectic rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I have found that utilizing a strengths-based, collaborative approach works well. I am familiar with DBT, CBT, and family systems.

There are many times in life when we all wonder about our purpose and direction. Questions about our lives become more difficult to navigate as we encounter adversities, stressors, and traumatic experiences. Feelings of anxiety, worry, and depression jeopardize our sense of overall safety and can affect our ability to move towards peace. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with many years experience in the field walking along side individuals and families on their journey to feeling more confident and worthy.

Together, we'll work to process past traumas, alleviate anxiety, and build self-esteem, guiding you toward a more empowered and authentic life.
I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based approach that helps integrate distressing memories, reducing their emotional impact and fostering resilience. EMDR can be particularly effective for those who feel "stuck" despite understanding their challenges intellectually.

Whether you are trying therapy for the first time or choosing a new therapist, the process of meeting a new clinician can be intimidating. But it doesn't have to be! I will work with you to integrate your specific goals, concerns, and questions into a plan that is specially curated for you, in hopes of creating a comfortable environment where you can grow into the best version of yourself. I believe that the most important aspect of therapy is providing an empathic space where you can be truly heard, understood, and validated.

I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families heal their lives and relationships. My approach is compassionate, supportive and hopeful. It is my belief that you are not "flawed" or lacking, but rather are constrained by burdens and beliefs that are the result of painful experiences. Together we remove those constraints so that you can experience freedom, wholeness and joy. When working with couples, my goal is to help remove constraints to intimacy and to help you and your partner create a relationship that is honest and fulfilling. Often personal healing must occur in order for this to happen.

Life presents us all with challenges. Some are easier to navigate than others. When faced with obstacles it is easy to fall into negative thinking patterns, which can lead to feeling stuck and alone. This can contribute to symptoms of anxiety and depression. Together we will look at what may be triggering your current feelings and explore how to become unstuck in order to find connection and meaning in your life.

Hi, I’m Liz. I know reaching out for help isn’t easy, but the fact that you’re here shows courage and self-awareness. So many people appear to have it “together” on the outside while quietly battling anxiety, self-doubt, or constant self-criticism on the inside. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and things can get better. With over 15 years of experience, I help adults manage social anxiety, general anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, OCD, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and self-compassion.

I’m sure you’ve been asked this a thousand times… “I’m so impressed—how do you do it?” On the one hand, that question is so satisfying to your inner perfectionist. But on the other, you’re silently screaming that the pressure of trying to do it all is starting to crush you. Your perfectionism shows up in your work. You find yourself working way more hours than your colleagues. It might show up in your relationships. Have you ever gone into a tailspin because you wanted to plan the perfect event for a loved one? Or it might show up within yourself—how you eat, dress, exercise, or maintain your home.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
