Sometimes life is just too hard or stressful to manage by yourself. It can be a relief to talk with someone who can help you work through your stress, to hear other perspectives and to help to make adjustments to face life's challenges. I believe that a trusting and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, in a warm and safe environment, can be essential to confronting and overcoming life's difficulties.

Are you struggling with anxiety or anger. Do you often feel like there's a looming threat you can't quite escape? Are you tired of avoiding situations, caught in endless “what if” scenarios? Have others told you that anger is getting in the way—and deep down, you know your actions don’t reflect your best self? If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship based on respect and understanding is essential to making positive change and helping individuals gain new insight, a healthier perspective or perhaps more meaning in their lives. In order for an individual to reach their full potential, it is important to uncover reasons they may be "stuck" in unhealthy relationships, addictions, poor self-image or other negative situations or behaviors. Cumulative experience has provided a deeper understanding of how dysfunctional patterns, low self esteem, mental illness and addiction can have an impact on the individual as well as those around them.

Have you lost the joy you once felt? Do you notice a harsh inner critic, anxiety, or trust issues that interfere with your relationships? You don’t have to stay trapped in that cycle. I integrate CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, conflict resolution, and mindfulness practices, which bring clarity, calm, and healing. Does this sound familiar?: You've lost touch with the hopes and dreams that used to motivate and inspire you. An important relationship is in trouble: your relationship with your spouse, partner, child, or family is a repeated source of pain. You received feedback that you don’t seem yourself lately or that your behavior is alarming to those who care about you. The responsiveness of a therapist can help us acknowledge the deep urging and longings of our truer selves. Therapy can be a place where we chart a new course for our lives. “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” --Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Clients who struggle with eating disorders and body image often feel trapped in harmful patterns and overwhelmed by societal pressures. They seek a compassionate supportive space to confront these challenges, explore underlying causes and rebuild self-worth. Their goals include breaking free from disordered eating, embracing a healthier relationship with good and their body, and finding empowerment through self-acceptance. They long to live authentically, no longer defined by their struggles, but guided by self compassion and internal strength.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
