Over 20 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and addiction in various treatment settings. Diversity and multicultural issues are embedded in everything we do and contribute to presenting problems. I am conscious of varying decision-making preferences, the role of family dynamics, stages of life, socioeconomic status, and issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. As well as the stigma associated with seeking mental health services.

I am also passionate about working with women on maternal wellness / motherhood struggles. Please know that you are not alone. Therapy can help to release that “heaviness” you are carrying around. What happens when you know the coping skills to use, but still feel anxious? Maybe you've been to therapy before, and still find yourself struggling to get through the day. You're able to go to work and "be functional," but inside, you're still on fire. I work with individuals who understand why they do what they do, and still can’t seem to get better. With a focus on "intellectualizers”, trauma, and chronic illness, I work with folks who are sick of coping, and want to start healing.

Are you feeling lost within yourself, relationships, career, or simply in the overwhelming pressure of life’s expectations? Are you’re tired of pretending everything’s fine while inside, you feel disconnected, resentful, or misunderstood. Is there a relentless inner critic that never seems to quiet down? Do you feel lost in the roles you play or the expectations you’re trying to meet? You’re not alone. Many find themselves stuck in patterns of people pleasing, silencing their needs, and conforming to others. If any of this resonates, individual therapy can be a space to reconnect with yourself, your truth, your sense of purpose.

I have experience treating a range of concerns, including OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and more.
Sometimes you may feel lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected - from yourself or the world around you. You might find yourself stuck in your thoughts, worrying, or carrying heavy feelings that seem to weigh you down. While these experiences are common, they don’t have to control your life. Therapy can be a space to slow down, feel understood, and gently make sense of what you’re going through, while reconnecting with your values and self. I'd be honored to help you clarify what your values are and how to bring you closer to living in a way that celebrates them.

I treat trauma, PTSD, phobias, grief and loss, and anxiety disorders of all kinds, even OCD.
I also enjoy working with people who feel outside the mainstream, with values not always supported by the dominant culture, and with those for whom spiritual practice is an important part of their lives. Often people come to see me who have symptoms that persist and have not responded to other therapies.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
