It is especially effective for conditions that have an emotional base or aspect, such as Fibromyalgia , Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, mood problems, depression, compulsions, food and environmental sensitivities, anger, and stress.
My practice is about solving problems, from relatively simple ones like smoking, weight control, or sleep issues, to deeper ones like fears and phobias, and, complex, chronic illnesses that almost invariably have multi-faceted emotional roots. Of course, chronic illnesses can rarely be dealt with as easily and quickly as, say, insomnia, smoking cessation, teeth grinding, or TMJ problems. Habits and simple fears and phobias mostly respond very well to the application of skilled Direct-Suggestion hypnosis. However, Healing Hypnosis, my specialty, is a more intensive and deeper process. That aims to get to the root of problems.

I have been working with grief, both normal and complicated, for nearly 30 years and have specialized training in treating both. For those who are going through a normal albeit difficult time coping with the loss of a loved one, or if you are a caregiver for someone with a stressful illness (e.g., cancer, Alzheimer's), help is here. I also have extensive experience in treating the needs of the LGBTQ community and the issues typical for for these clients. I strongly prefer to meet clients in person due to the type of interventions I utilize that are more effective this way. However, I do have limited availability for TeleHealth.

I have a broad range of counseling experience and have worked with many personal, behavioral, and cultural issues over my 20+ year counseling career. I utilize a holistic approach to help you create positive change within your life. We all encounter transitions in our lifetime (e.g., divorce, relationship issues, illness , death of loved ones, occupational conflicts, separation from employment, end of military service, empty nests, etc.), but it is often the way we respond to these challenges more than the actual challenges themselves that impacts our overall physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

If your life has been derailed by loss, trauma or illness , you and/or your child don't have to be alone with the pain .
The large and small struggles that we all try to push away are actually wake up calls for healing. Feelings of anxiety or depression, avoiding reminders of past emotional or physical injuries, conflict with loved ones, struggles with children, anger, addictive behavior, self doubt and confusion are all signs that its time to pause and reset. In therapy, we'll practice calming the mind and body and honor all that you've experienced to make room for the parts of yourself that need to be heard. Together we'll connect with the struggle, heal within ourselves and families and create a new chapter in your life story.

I am also passionate about helping those with chronic illness to discover their optimal levels of functioning to live their best life.
How have you been doing? Are you feeling anxious, stressed, down, maybe disconnected? Do you have unresolved trauma? Anxiety and depression can be exhausting. PTSD can feel very heavy. Maybe you are having difficulty managing everyday tasks or haven't been able to heal past wounds. Seeking help takes courage and this is the first step towards feeling better. Making that first call can feel scary but I can assure you that you will feel relieved once you take that step. I'm here to help you find solutions to what's troubling you and to help you move forward to live a happier, healthy life. I look forward to that opportunity.

I am a caring, evidence-based, and holistic (consideration of the whole) therapist looking forward to challenging cases from people needing my expertise. Making use of a wide variety of therapies, from verbal to non-verbal, devoting much time on each of the select cases I take, and engaging in colleague consultations, I am often able to help with even the most challenging of issues. I also see children, doing family therapy even for the toughest kids. You'll see the difference family support makes, rather than my just trying to "fix the kid".

Therapy is a collaborative relationship. I work with clients to develop a safe and trusting relationship that we can use to explore challenging interpersonal patterns, to work through stressful life events and conflicts, and to better understand the motivations underlying our behavior. Through the therapeutic relationship, we can develop an awareness of the impact thoughts, emotions, behaviors and interpersonal relationships have on the way we cope with life events. By understanding how the past impacts the present we can gain insight into our current issues and develop the skills to manage the challenges in our daily lives.
