I have been working with grief, both normal and complicated, for nearly 30 years and have specialized training in treating both. For those who are going through a normal albeit difficult time coping with the loss of a loved one, or if you are a caregiver for someone with a stressful illness (e.g., cancer, Alzheimer's ), help is here. I also have extensive experience in treating the needs of the LGBTQ community and the issues typical for for these clients. I strongly prefer to meet clients in person due to the type of interventions I utilize that are more effective this way. However, I do have limited availability for TeleHealth.

Do you want to change your course? Move in a different direction? We all develop perceptions about ourselves and our relationships based on our unique experiences. Sometimes these perceptions can detour us from successful adaptation to life's ever-changing circumstances. Do you want to explore and resolve issues hindering your ability to navigate changes? I see clients from adolescence to end-of-life seeking greater satisfaction in their relationships and self identity. You'll collaborate in designing a treatment approach based on respect and compassion. Our focus is on your goals for change and your personal story.

Trained in Germany and in the United States I have been able to learn from both academic and cultural traditions. Psycho-dynamic, Gestalt, Solution-focused and other approaches in Psychology led me to understand our emotional life as a strong and resilient force. This force is leading us - sometimes unnoticed - to new beginnings; we resist what is destructive and we heal at the same time.

It takes a great deal of courage to ask for help and this could be the first step in doing so, resulting in self-improvement and living the life you want to live. Together, we'll create a safe space that helps you search for and find your unique answers. Rather than focus on disorders, we'll explore where your journey is leading you. My foundation in creativity, energy work and spirit-mind-body approaches will help you discover insights that lead to transformation. My clients include psychotherapists, parents, holistic leaders, artists, grandparents, writers, students, professionals-people who sense that pain and longing don't mean a person is broken; such experiences are simply a call toward greater wholeness. I'll compassionately receive, support and guide as you navigate life's challenges.

Experiences in aging and caregiving vary. For many, the "golden" years(later middle-age through end of life)are a time full of welcomed change and reflection. Still, medical conditions, relationship changes, and new life circumstances are just a few of the many stressors leaving seniors and caregivers feeling overwhelmed. I have counseled seniors living with dementia , as well as depression and anxiety. I have coached caregivers who find themselves balancing work responsibilities with care needs of children and aging parents. Most of my clients have similar goals: to be happier, improve relationships, and find a better quality of life.

With 30 years of experience in dementia care services, I've dedicated my new counseling practice to people living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia . This includes individuals diagnosed and their families, to support the life changes, stress and interpersonal challenges they face. I have also developed an affinity for supporting people with complex trauma histories, creating a safe, serene and accepting style. Regardless of what brings my clients to therapy, they learn to integrate a part of their history (or their changing future) rather than being defined by it.

Alzheimer's Therapists
A progressive neurodegenerative disease, Alzheimers Disease slowly destroys an individual's memory, judgment, cognition and eventually ability to function. It represents an enormous burden on victims of the disease and their family alike.

Alzheimer's is characterized by memory loss, language deterioration, impaired ability to mentally manipulate visual information, poor judgment, confusion, restlessness, and mood swings.

Alzheimer's usually begins after age 65, but its onset may occur as early as age 40, appearing first as memory decline and, over several years, destroying cognition, personality, and ability to function. Confusion and restlessness may also occur. The early symptoms of AD, which include forgetfulness and loss of concentration, can be missed easily because they resemble signs of natural aging.
