Do you have a child or teen who is struggling with anxiety or depression? Is your teenager struggling with a learning disability or having trouble making and keeping friends? I enjoy helping adolescents and young adults who are struggling with trauma or worrying about the bad things in the past happening again. Also, the transition from high school to college can be tough. I love helping young adults who are sorting through the uncertainties of life, working on building self-confidence, positive body image and sense of self. I love helping people who are trying to find a safe, perfect fit for themselves in the world.

Diet culture's insidious messages have confused many of us and complicated our relationship with food and our bodies. If you or your teenager is struggling with shame, guilt, and worry around eating, I teach self-compassion skills that support a holistic, intuitive, and confident way of living. I have a passion for providing brave spaces for individuals living in marginalized bodies and am a LGBTQIA+ gender affirming care provider. I love helping people of all ages become confident, intuitive eaters and rebuild their relationship with their bodies.

My practice is about solving problems, from relatively simple ones like smoking, weight control, or sleep issues, to deeper ones like fears and phobias, and, complex, chronic illnesses that almost invariably have multi-faceted emotional roots. Of course, chronic illnesses can rarely be dealt with as easily and quickly as, say, insomnia, smoking cessation, teeth grinding, or TMJ problems. Habits and simple fears and phobias mostly respond very well to the application of skilled Direct-Suggestion hypnosis. However, Healing Hypnosis, my specialty, is a more intensive and deeper process. That aims to get to the root of problems.

Based on my 25 plus years of working as a clinical therapist, I believe that given the right support, everyone has the ability to resolve their issues and rewrite the stories of their lives. As each individual's path to wellness is unique, I utilize an integrative, holistic approach tailored to each specific client to optimize the therapeutic experience and ensure the best possible outcomes. Challenging life experiences can lead to people becoming stuck in negative, self-defeating patterns. I can assist you in determining the right course of action to take in order to achieve the clarity, self confidence and courage required to heal. Move forward and break free from unwanted behavioral patterns and limiting beliefs! I work with individuals, couples, and adolescents. I have developed an immense toolkit of therapeutic techniques over the years to share with my clients. I am steeped in Eastern as well as Western treatment modalities, and enjoy incorporating somatic, sound, and mindfulness healing techniques into my work in addition to the more traditional forms of cognitive and behavioral therapies.

I have been working with grief, both normal and complicated, for nearly 30 years and have specialized training in treating both. For those who are going through a normal albeit difficult time coping with the loss of a loved one, or if you are a caregiver for someone with a stressful illness (e.g., cancer, Alzheimer's), help is here. I also have extensive experience in treating the needs of the LGBTQ community and the issues typical for for these clients. I strongly prefer to meet clients in person due to the type of interventions I utilize that are more effective this way. However, I do have limited availability for TeleHealth.

I have a broad range of counseling experience and have worked with many personal, behavioral, and cultural issues over my 20+ year counseling career. I utilize a holistic approach to help you create positive change within your life. We all encounter transitions in our lifetime (e.g., divorce, relationship issues, illness, death of loved ones, occupational conflicts, separation from employment, end of military service, empty nests, etc.), but it is often the way we respond to these challenges more than the actual challenges themselves that impacts our overall physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

It can be overwhelming to know how to ask for help. If you do not know where to turn; or if you are struggling, don't try to face it alone. Let me be your guide. I enjoy working with couples and families who have lost their way and individuals (ages 12 and up) who struggle with relationship issues, mood or substance use disorders. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, meditation, mindfulness, a sense of joy and humor to help clients and families be the best version of themselves. Face to face is preferred but telehealth is available if necessary.

I would be honored to work with you and your parts. My experiences have taught me empathy, compassion and curiosity when exploring ways to reduce stress and anxiety. Together we can safely approach the thoughts, feelings and sensations moving within the body. I use reliable therapy models like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients safely move toward change. I focus on the strengths and needs of the client. By working collaboratively you are able to feel empowered in your life. Together healing is possible.

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
