I specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder and other anxiety disorders.
Sometimes our thoughts inhibit our ability to enjoy life and live in the present. How we react to those thoughts is so important, yet for many of us, we rely on strategies that are ineffective at best and harmful at worst. Often, we get stuck in a cyclical pattern of thinking, and we can feel our anxiety growing. There is a way out of this.

Constantly taking care of others takes its toll. It's time to carve out space for yourself. My clients are individuals who are used to shouldering the burdens of everyone around them. They might be struggling with family or romantic relationships, postpartum issues (anxiety, depression, OCD ), or overcoming past hurtful experiences. Some find themselves at the end of their rope, trying to manage their anger or anxiety. I help these incredible humans recognize their own strengths and value as they process difficult feelings and experiences that might be holding them back.

As a person with lived experience and an extensive background in healing work, both clinically and holistically, my specialty is working with those who have anxiety disorders, trauma, depression, OCD , struggles in their relationships, with self esteem and personal power.
Our minds are often full of made up stories we have been telling ourselves for years. Often, they are stories that have been written based on who others have told us we are or are "supposed" to be. My clients are those who want to rewrite the stories that create a sense of heaviness or limit their life experience, including stories full of anxiety and negative thoughts. I help those who are looking to find inner peace, clarity, a better understanding of themselves, and freedom from the heaviness our minds and life experiences can bring.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

OCD is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
