The best advice I have been given was to “Trust My Process.” I've heard those words in my life as I encountered hardships and challenges myself over the years.

Michelle works with individuals, families, and
couples
.
Accepting new clients! Therapy is a journey of discovery, and never one size fits all. Michelle will walk with you on this journey, meeting you where you are, and assisting you where needed, to get you where you want to be. Talking will only take you so far, the real work begins when you walk out that door/ turn off that video and face the area of concern(s) in your life. Making changes is not easy and everyone has different views and goals. Her job is to help support the client as they align their lifestyle to their goal, and provide a safe place for one to examine one's self and understand one's circumstances.

I work closely with each client to establish a safe and trusting
relationship
that empowers a commitment to new experiences, increases one's ability to adapt to change, and improves overall functioning.
Many individuals who may benefit from therapy are feeling emotionally distressed. This could be the result of problems within their relationships, job, academic setting, or due to general life stressors. Yet, many of these individuals are also reluctant to seek treatment due to the various misconceptions about therapy. This is of particular importance to my treatment approach, as I strive to meet each client's distinct needs with the understanding that this endeavor may not have been an easy one.

Therapy is about what works for you. I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental, and confidential space to explore and shift away from maladaptive thoughts and patterns. I work relationally with individuals to foster self satisfaction, further self understanding and appreciation, and restore the self. A comfortable patient and therapist
relationship
is key to successful and meaningful therapy. I view the client as the expert on his or her own experience. I aim to create a safe space in order to expand awareness of that experience, integrate aspects that may have been excluded from awareness, and integrate new experience and meanings.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
