I've been practicing as a psychotherapist for over 30 years. I have been clinical director of mental health facilities and on the faculty of Tufts University School of Medicine. I welcome clients 14 years of age and older -- individuals and couples, and offer you a warm personal approach focusing on your specific needs. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" model of practice or that therapy should be "a way of life." Therapy begins with a careful assessment and plan. If what we are doing isn't working for you, we change it.

I am a clinical psychologist with expertise in treating addictions, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, body image issues and difficulties with emotion regulation. I teach skills that increase life satisfaction, happiness, self-confidence, curiosity and gratitude. When life doesn't meet our expectations or painful situations occur, many people become self-critical and fight against emotions such as anger, loneliness, fear or shame. It is this lack of acceptance that increases suffering. Mindfulness and self-compassion involve responding with kindness to our own pain, thereby reducing suffering.

My work is a dynamic blend of all that has profoundly influenced me: the science of Family Systems , my 25 years study in Buddhist psychology and Non-Dual philosophy, teaching Yoga, my training in martial arts, & Primal Health coaching. My marriage of 25 years while mothering two teenagers has offered joy and insight into human nature. My passion is in helping my clients develop conscious partnerships, mindful parenting, heal from grief and live free of anxiety and depression. My work is a psychotherapeutic approach integrating neuroscience, trauma research, meditative practices and relational awareness for healing and happiness.

In my private practice I enjoy working with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, relationship issues, depression, loss, stress and life's transitions. I have a special interest in how clients manage vulnerability through disordered eating and body image issues. When life becomes overwhelming many turn to controlling food and body as a protective strategy. With compassion and respect, I will help you understand your personal relationship with food. As your insight and self-awareness grow you will make the behavioral changes you desire while incorporating healthier coping skills.

My practice is devoted to supporting individuals, couples and their kids. If you want to do the work, improved communication and mutual understanding will help you make for a better future. Too many relationships function on "implicit" understandings. This results in feeling resentful, unappreciated or unloved. By learning to make our relationship dynamics more "explicit" we can work through our constraints to find balance and harmony. Sometimes "reconciliation" means being together as a couple and sometimes "reconciliation" means parting ways, but doing so respectfully. This is especially important if you have kids! Being at peace with yourself is the key!

Above all, therapy is a relationship. I work collaboratively with my clients to develop a safe, trusting, and attuned relationship that we can use to explore problematic patterns of relating, work through emotional tensions and conflicts, and better understand themselves. Through the therapeutic relationship, we can begin to unravel those patterns that keep people wondering, "why does this keep happening?", fully experience emotions, develop a greater sense of self-awareness and vitality, and understand how the past impacts and influences the present.
