My approach to counseling is to have a foundation of trust and unconditional positive regard while creating a safe environment. Many of my clients are looking to make changes in their lives in order to find peace, happiness, and love within themselves and their relationships. More often than not, my clients come to me because they have been feeling depressed, anxious, or struggling with self-esteem and are looking to change how they have been feeling and the quality of their lives. I offer a non-judgmental approach to getting to know my clients and helping them to determine their goals for improving the quality of their lives.

I've been involved in the behavioral health field over 30 years working with children and adults. In that time, I have become acquainted with numerous types of treatment. I've seen many positive responses to these techniques but have also heard clients state how the reality of their lives did not always fit the mold of some approaches. This "fitting a square peg into a round hole" has been an issue for some clients in previous treatment. Though issues people experience can be common to others, they are also specific to the individual. This makes more generalized treatments difficult.

Effective therapy allows you to grieve the person you might have been if you had been treated with care earlier in life—and then helps you keep living anyway. Therapy isn’t about endlessly revisiting the past; it’s about understanding it, honoring what was lost, and deciding how you want to live now. My work is grounded in Existential and Reality Therapies. Together, we face the limits, losses, and choices that shape a life, and then focus on what you can take responsibility for today. Good therapy is a grounded, honest conversation about the life you’re actually living—and the decisions that shape what comes next.

Does life feel like an unsafe, roller coaster? Given the tension of living in current world affairs, I think it is unethical for me to say that one can achieve a full reset under such conditions, yet you're human, and have rights - including rest. As an LMFT with past experience serving ages 2 to 92, my focus became predomiantly professionals within individual sessions and small groups. Trained in evdence-based practices like IFS, MI, and CBT, my strength-based, intuitively creative, and trauma-informed approach supports you in creating positive, lasting change, one small step at a time, as you reconnect with your Self -Energy.

You may appear high-functioning on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in painful patterns that are difficult to change alone. Many individuals I work with are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, and major life transitions while trying to reconnect with themselves and create meaningful change. I meet individuals where they are at, building upon existing strengths to support healing, resilience, balance, and improved quality of life.

Please connect with me via email. I am experienced in working with individuals, couples, and families. I believe that therapy should be a collaborative process and that is how I approach every potential client. I believe that we know ourselves best and sometimes we just need some assistance with getting back on track. I believe in a judgement free zone and meeting someone where they are at. I also believe that we all have the tools in our tool box, but sometimes we just need assistance learning how to use them.

I have been working as a therapist for over 16 years. I embrace the social work principle of starting where the client is and understanding each person's unique reality. I believe my clients are the experts in their own lives and take a person-centered approach. I work with clients around a variety of issues including anxiety, depression and life transitions. My early career was spent working as a medical social worker in health care settings so I am also very comfortable working with chronic health issues and aging.

Many of my clients struggle with grief, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, high school and college issues, and more. They may be afraid of the future or of the present. Either way, their goals are often to feel better, happier, safer, empowered to make their best life. Many want a safe place to go and a safe person to talk with. For over a decade, I have been providing that place for clients in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
