My intention is to help people discover lasting pathways to feel better. I will bring my warmth, heart, experience and presence to our unique collaboration as we focus on how you want to feel in your life. I practice a body-centered approach to counseling. Woven through our talking together will be periods of mindfulness and tuning in as a way to deepen awareness, growth and healing. When we have the support we need--we feel more freedom to be ourselves emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually. As distortions release--we naturally heal, improve our relationships, and make authentic life choices that feel good.

There comes a point when pushing through no longer works. When anxiety feels louder than your inner voice, old wounds start resurfacing, or life shifts in ways that leave you unsteady. If you’re feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure how to move forward, you’re not alone. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where you can slow down, listen inward, and begin to understand what your mind and body have been holding. Together, we gently untangle patterns that no longer serve you, tend to the parts of you that learned to survive, and strengthen the parts of you that are ready to thrive.

There is an old saying: "Never give a sword to a person who can't dance". This wisdom speaks directly to minds that are stuck and cannot move rhythmically but are bound to fear, anxiety and neglect. When our minds become inflexible, we cut ourselves away from our intuitive self, causing suffering and pain. Only with the experience of standing unbiased and naked in "another's shoes" can we really know we are clear and authentic. When we become authentic, we receive confidence. Confidence begets creativity and with creativity we discover our life.

You've always been the Responsible one. Others are amazed at how much you have accomplished -Education, Career, Financial Stability, maybe even the "perfect family". And yet, Life still feels EMPTY. You feel haunted by a restlessness that something important is missing. You are surrounded by people, yet you feel lonely, maybe even sad. You come across as so capable & well put together, others can't even imagine you could have needs too! Your Heart is Aching for Connection! Maybe you spend a lot of time in that brilliant mind of yours moving through endless task list. Despite all the achievement, you feel you should have done more

My name is Ta'Erra but most people just call me Tae. I started this journey as a therapist to make sense of the world I was living in but it became my passion when I began to see the fruit of healing in others' lives. I have had the chance to work with those experiencing mood disorders, relational issues, and trauma-related disorders. I have also worked with many who like to integrate their Christian beliefs into therapy. My goal is to help you understand the impact that life experiences have had on shaping how you see yourself, others, and the world.

I welcome people of all faiths, and integrate spirituality into my work, as it feels comfortable to clients.
I am passionate about helping individuals, couples and families heal their lives and relationships. My approach is compassionate, supportive and hopeful. It is my belief that you are not "flawed" or lacking, but rather are constrained by burdens and beliefs that are the result of painful experiences. Together we remove those constraints so that you can experience freedom, wholeness and joy. When working with couples, my goal is to help remove constraints to intimacy and to help you and your partner create a relationship that is honest and fulfilling. Often personal healing must occur in order for this to happen.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
