Control Mastery Theory: A relational, cognitive and psychodynamic approach involving techniques and a stance to healing within a corrective therapeutic relationship.
Therapy can be a scary prospect and some have had less than ideal experiences with therapy. I hope to be a safe refuge for people who are looking to feel better and find relief. I work with clients from a relational, cognitive and mind-body connection to promote progress and healing. If you are struggling with feeling emotionally run-down, alone, anxious and feeling like you want a better self to emerge from your life, but can’t quite reach that potential, we can work to find that realization.

My brand of therapy is all about real human connection. Need a hype girl or a cheerleader, I'm on it. Need some tough love and honesty, also there. Just need a listening ear and some reassurance that you aren't alone on this wild ride of a planet, yeah, I get it. Therapy should be about YOU. No AI, no filters, just us sharing space for all that spins your world. Very happily queer and nontraditional relationship friendly! Yes, that's a nod to you, ENM folks. Currently, I am currently open to new clients and am in network with Aetna, Optum (Connecticare, United, and Oxford), and Husky. OON friendly.

Updated 5/20/26. School, work, family, relationships, LIFE...they can all be stressful, overwhelming and seemingly unmanageable sometimes. Going to therapy for the first time, or starting over again with a new therapist can be intimidating. Combining your expertise (you are always the expert on you) and mine, we will work to overcome barriers to happiness.

I never set out to become a psychotherapist. Like many in this profession, my own path of healing has compelled me to work with others. I am now grateful to be able to use my personal experiences and clinical training to help people who are suffering. I know that being a therapist was what I was meant to do, and I feel privileged to be a part of my clients’ journeys. As a therapist, it is important for me to honestly “practice what I preach” – to “walk the walk” in my own life. This allows me to provide the best care for clients. Nature, reading, art, music, meditation, and family and friends are just some of the ways I recharge.

I treat children and adolescents with various struggles, though I have a special focus on anxiety and selective mutism. Therapy with me may involve working through play, parenting strategies, or sometimes direct intervention in the school setting. With older children or adolescents, we may look at self-awareness, coping strategies, and social skills. Being that some forms of anxiety become apparent as early as preschool, I also work with very young children and teach parents how to support them. When appropriate, I offer intensive treatment for selective mutism, which allows progress to be made more quickly.

My work focuses on positive relationships - with yourself and others - based on compassion and fearless self-awareness. Even when we are thinking, feeling or doing things that we don't like, there is something about it all that makes sense. Uncovering the mystery of that logic is important to therapy. This process helps us come home to ourselves and to the present moment. I specialize in individual and couple goal oriented therapy. I also have considerable expertise in parent-child relationships, behavior management and emotional intelligence in children (see more at www.PeaceAtHomeParenting.com/our-experts).

My philosophy is very Jungian-based. I believe that life is about consciousness, balance, and relationship. We heal and grow by shining the light on the darkness instead of avoiding it. This philosophy is a complete approach to the journey. We want to look at the whole of the issue and then work through the details. This brings us to a higher level of awareness that gives us more connection to the different parts of ourselves with a focus on sexuality, romance, intelligence, and spirit. The method of treatment used is a combination of somatic based, mental based, and spiritual based treatment.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
