Not accepting new clients. Are you feeling stuck, anxious, or unable to stop thinking about the past? Trauma, whether from childhood experiences, abusive relationships, sexual violence, or difficult family dynamics, can have a lasting impact. When our nervous systems remain on high alert, it can show up as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, intrusive memories, low-self esteem, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Though trauma is my niche, I also specialize in working with adults and teenagers navigating depression, anxiety, general life stress, and parenting challenges.

You’re doing everything right… but something still feels off. At some level, you already know that. It’s not that you need more answers. It’s that something in you hasn’t fully been heard yet. On paper, your life might look fine. You’re showing up, functioning, doing what you’re supposed to do. But internally, something feels off. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t fully settle. Maybe you feel disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or the life you’re living. Maybe you’ve outgrown parts of who you used to be, but you’re not sure what comes next.

Do you feel overwhelmed by challenges in life that are preventing you from being able to live with freedom, joy and peace? Whether we have hurts from the past or anxiety and depression that may cause conflict in our lives; it can be helpful to have someone there who understands and provides non-judgmental, supportive feedback. When we experience crisis and difficult circumstances it may trigger emotions that seem intense at times. It is helpful to learn how to identify our thoughts and emotions and learn healthy ways to process them.

I work with adolescents (14+) and adults who may appear put together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck internally. Many are navigating anxiety, depression, past experiences that continue to affect them, relationship stress, or life transitions. I also support individuals from diverse and multicultural backgrounds, including those navigating identity and acculturation. Clients often seek a space where they can feel understood, gain clarity, and begin to reconnect with themselves.

As a person-centered, strength-based, and trauma trained clinician, I empower the individuals I support to be their own champion. I strive to have a deep understanding of the experiences that have, and continue to make your journey uniquely yours. Whatever it is, telling your story is the path to finding yourself among the chaos. Understanding that this process can be a difficult spectrum to navigate, I’ll be alongside you throughout the process and together we will develop an integrated treatment plan, tailored to your individual goals, in order to achieve a greater sense of wellness.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
