Your story matters! I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. Life is too short to let negative thoughts, anxiety and past experiences affect who you are today. You are not alone and I'm hopeful that together we can free you of any emotional pain, develop skills to appreciate your self worth and build healthy relationships to find meaning and purpose in life. You matter to me! Since everyone's story is unique, we will utilize different therapeutic approaches that work best for you. Some common approaches to be considered are CBT, mindfulness, strength based and empowerment.

Life can feel challenging at any stage, and the reasons are often complex. You might find yourself navigating anxiety, stress, low mood or conflict with family and friends. It might even be something that’s difficult to name. You’re seeking relief, but also understanding—you want to make sense of your experiences and the systems you're a part of, not simply cope with the problems. Your goal is to feel more grounded and connected to yourself, so you can move through life with greater clarity, intention, and trust in who you are. I'm here to support you in that process.

I have been in this field for over 30 years that has provided me with compassionate & empathic in any capacity possible. I never judge others. I look at the population as diverse, equal - who are all worthy of heart-felt assistance. Indeed, I do not recognize or see color-of-skin, gender, or ethnicity. Despite the discord in our world now, it is most important to realize that we are all human who deserve respect. My life is committed to helping others as much as I can - again, with compassion & empathy that we all deserve. I love what I do and do what I love, so, basically, I don't feel that I work a day in my life.

I practice Trauma-Focused CBT, ERP for OCD, mindfulness-based approaches, and family systems therapy.
Some of what you're carrying isn't small. It might be trauma that's been with you for years — the kind that shows up as anger, as resentment, or just an uneasy feeling. It might be something that runs your life in ways other people don't understand. It might be the weight of making it through the day, identity issues or family stress that makes life very hard. You need a therapist who has actually sat with that kind of weight before. I've spent over a decade doing crisis intervention and trauma work. I know how to be steady when things aren't.

I work best with clients who are ready for support but may not know where to start. Many are carrying the effects of trauma, emotional pain, family stress, depression, anxiety, or substance use concerns that have made life feel harder to manage. Parents may be looking for support for a child. Couples may want to improve connection and communication. Families may need help working through conflict and healing together. I aim to create a welcoming and calming space, and when appropriate, my therapy/service dog Venus may be part of that supportive environment.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
