I specialize in engaging and working with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, ADHD , or relationship issues.
Starting therapy for the first time (or with someone new) can be daunting. Finding that “right fit” can be difficult, but the search is worth it. If you or your loved one are struggling this year, you’re not alone. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and my goal is to create a safe, comfortable environment with a balance of warmth, empathy, and humor, where my clients feel they can be themselves. I like to work collaboratively with my clients to identify their strengths, and the coping skills that will work best for them when they are struggling.

I specialize in treating children: preschool through middle school. When appropriate, parents are also included in my sessions. My practice is based on INSIGHTS into Children's Temperament, a program I developed that is available in multiple states. INSIGHTS works by improving children's behavior and by teaching parents to use strategies specifically tailored to their child's unique temperament/personality. The program has scientifically proven to treat children with ADHD and other type of behavior problems --without the use of medication. INSIGHTS also assists children who are anxious cope better with their stressors.

I respect my chosen profession of psychology and protect the sacredness of trust given to me. I hope it was earned by the many people who have touched me and kept me from taking myself too seriously. There is nothing magic about therapy. It answers two basic questions: Who am I? and What do I want to do with my life? I am a clinical and health psychologist who believes in physical, emotional and spiritual health. I also coach business owners and aspiring writers.

I work with teens and adults, couples and families. I work with people to help them better meet the challenges they face; from traumatic stress, ADHD , anxiety or depression, to building more rewarding relationships and careers. Relationship problems, problems at work, parenting challenges, and a counter-productive relationship with yourself--how you motivate yourself and how you talk to yourself--are all areas in which I have many years of experience. Making healthier lifestyle choices, and sticking with them, coping with health conditions, and compulsions and addictions are also conditions I have extensive experience treating.

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for a Danbury ADHD therapist, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counseling in Danbury.
