I have 20+ years of experience as a therapist specializing in depression , relationship issues, life transitions, and gender identity issues.
You don't want to be in therapy forever, but something has to change. Maybe you want to get back to feeling like your old self, or you want people to see who you really are? Maybe you need to decide whether to stay or leave a relationship? When everything you're doing has led to the same results, when you feel like you’re communicating how you feel and asking for what you need but the situation does not seem to get better, it can feel frustrating and overwhelming. I can help you find ways to take control so that you can feel better, and improve your relationships with other people.

In today's world, life is at best, complex. While stress due to conflict, relationship problems, dealing with loss and grief, situations that may cause anxiety or depression , our own feelings can become overwhelming, clouding productive, thoughtful resolutions to one's problems. I have found that a safe environment in which to explore one's thoughts and feelings can provide an avenue to resolution, clarity of thought, and a better ability to resolve one's life problems and conflicts. Whether your concerns are relational in nature, or more of self-actualization development, a problem-focused therapeutic environment can be helpful.

The same thought has been assaulting you in an agonizing loop of repetition for days on end. Or has it been weeks? One compulsive behavior or another keeps you trapped in a constant cycle of despair. The more you resist, the tighter it grabs you - there's no escape. No one understands how hard it is or that you can't just stop. They couldn’t imagine how much you suffer inside your own mind. So, you hold it all in and suffer in silence, ending each day drained, defeated, and depressed . What you wouldn't give to get your life back, to be free. It’s time to make a change - time to get unstuck.

I provide individual psychotherapy to adults with a focus on anxiety, trauma/PTSD, depression and mood disorders, adjustment/life transitions and relationship issues.
As humans, our number one need is connection. Therapy is a place to find connection, comfort and understanding. I believe that the collaborative relationship that is created in therapy is a powerful tool for positive and lasting change. I assist my clients in raising awareness of unconscious processes and how they impact our relationships, as well as our abilities to cope and care for ourselves. I offer a safe place and opportunity for you to explore your concerns while learning healthy and effective ways to manage intense feelings and resolve problems.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
