This can look different in each individual, but often includes difficulty with setting boundaries, putting others’ needs before your own, feelings of low self-esteem, & feelings of intense shame & guilt.
I also believe in authenticity & the power of humor, which is something my clients truly appreciate! The client feedback I take the most pride in has been that I am easy to talk to, that I am unlike other therapists they have worked with previously, & that I just “get them.”

I work with adults who appear to have it together on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck in patterns they can't quite make sense of. Many are navigating stress in relationships, communication, or self-trust, and are looking for a clearer, more grounded understanding of themselves. I also work with preteens/teens who are open to self-exploration. Using my SALT approach (Self-Awareness, Let's Talk), I help clients understand what's happening beneath their reactions. Together we identify feelings and unmet needs, connect patterns, and build the awareness and skills needed to respond instead of react.

Hello! My name is Amy Chace, LCSW and I created The P.A.T.H Therapy Model or “Psychotherapist Assisted Transcendental Healing”. P.A.T.H is patent pending and builds on the scientific research of bilateral stimulation, and asserts that bilateral stimulation can be used with all clients, not just those with trauma, to create an optimal "state" in therapy that can be utilized to enhance client's growth and progress. PATH also asserts that bilateral stimulation should be considered and studied as a safer, more holistic alternative to ketamine therapies and harsh ECT treatments. This really works, the results speak for themselves!

I aim to be a warm, authentic, and comforting presence in your life. As a therapist, I'm asking you to be vulnerable and you deserve a soft place to land that is free from judgment. Therapy is about being curious. Exploring thoughts, feelings, experiences, and how they intersect. From which you may feel a more grounded sense of self. I will sit in those heavy emotions with you without trying to immediately fix, solve, or change you. Just accept and validate and be with you before we do any change talk. My hope is for you to heal your relationship with yourself if you've stopped believing in or liking yourself.

I help adults in Connecticut who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, or substance use that’s starting to take a toll. Many of my clients look “fine” on the outside but are struggling with racing thoughts, emotional exhaustion, or habits they can’t get ahead of. They come to therapy wanting clarity, relief, and a space where they can finally be honest. My style is warm, calm, client centered oriented and collaborative. I help you understand what’s driving your symptoms, break unhelpful cycles, and build tools that support real change. You don’t have to manage your mental health or substance use alone.

I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely understood while helping you navigate anxiety, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem, and life transitions with practical tools, mindfulness, and support that feels realistic and sustainable.
Now welcoming new clients with immediate availability! If you’re looking for a therapist who simply gives advice or “has all the answers,” I might not be the right fit—and that’s by design. I believe therapy is most effective when it’s collaborative, genuine, and built on real connection. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and focused on creating a space where you (or your teen) can show up exactly as you are—no pressure to filter, perform, or have it all figured out. Our work together is less about clinical talk and more about honest, meaningful conversations that actually connect to your day-to-day life.

Sometimes, change can be difficult and finding your way to therapy can be both scary and overwhelming for some people. Throughout our work together, we can create change through a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Throughout our lives we often maintain cycles of behavior and relationships that create a feeling of imbalance and discomfort that impact our ability to face the difficulties that are thrown our way. We will work to increase insight into your thoughts and behaviors and find a path toward a positive future by utilizing strengths and supports that you already possess.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
