My background as a Marriage and Family Therapist has shaped the work I do to help individuals, couples, and families with issues such as anxiety, depression, communication, family conflict, child and adolescent development, parenting, substance abuse, addictions, co-dependency, grief and loss, trauma, anger, divorce, blended families, and infidelity.
Finding the right therapist is the first step in getting to the place you want to be. Whether for personal growth, a relationship or family issue, healing from loss or past trauma, the relationship developed with your therapist is an important part of this process. My approach to working with people is to provide a comfortable space to collaborate towards reaching your goals. Together we will lay the groundwork necessary to develop solutions to meet your needs.

Sometimes it’s our present situation that we need help sorting out. Sometimes it's fear of a new experience or making a difficult decision. Sometimes we carry traumatic memories from our past that impact us still today, maybe something that has never been discussed or addressed with anyone before out of shame, guilt or fear. I acknowledge in advance the courage involved to take this step, and you can be assured you will be provided a safe, respectful and non-judgmental environment to address your situation.

I became a Clinical Social Worker because I strongly believe in its principles of social justice and social equality; I mindfully incorporate these principles into every session. I believe everyone deserves empathy, compassion, healing, and has the capacity for change... if they're open to it. Does now feel like it's TIME? Enough is enough? The weight of depression, anxiety, trauma, society, family issues, distorted eating/body image struggles, the power of shame, the sleepless nights; all can be addressed and healed. I am passionate about empowering clients with the tools and insight to heal themselves.

It takes a lot of courage and strength to enter therapy. I provide a safe, supportive, and positive environment where the sources of stress and life difficulties would be identified. Ways to work through and overcome life challenges would then be presented and focused on with the goal of improving one's life one step at a time.

Do you often feel overwhelmed, confused, judged, or like you don't belong? Perhaps you feel like your past weighs you down or that no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to move forward. Maybe you even feel as though you can't seem to control the things happening in your life? I enjoy working with children, individuals, and families who are willing to try new things. I believe in collaboration and encourage clients to tell me if something is not working for them and to take on an active role in the therapeutic relationship. You are the expert on your life and your input is incredibly valuable!

Taking initiative to begin therapy is a venturous act that can seem overwhelming to some, but will ultimately guide you toward betterment. Pursuing mental health care for oneself is a right that should be accessible to and personalized for all individuals. I provide counseling from a person-centered, strengths-based lens, meaning that you will be the one to guide your treatment according to your individual needs, goals, and strengths. Using a blend of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based therapy, I will work with you to identify each of these and achieve positive outcomes over the course of our time together.

Currently telehealth only! Feeling a little lost and disconnected? Struggling through another work or school day? Having difficulty feeling understood? I get it, I'm a millennial who has lived through several "once in a lifetime" economic crises, student loans, the fear of being a forever renter, social injustices, and the pressure to hit certain life milestones in a society that hasn't caught up with our needs. I'm here to help you develop the tools that you need to navigate these new and challenging terrains. My goal is to help my clients combat symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, everyday stress, and more.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
