I strive to understanding my clients and their life as a web of interrelated parts. I find that it is most beneficial to my clients when we collaborate through an open and down-to-earth relationship, using my expertise and the client's desire for change and healing. My style is accepting, nurturing and educational. My level of directness depends on what my clients prefer. I ask for feedback on a regular basis to assure that my approaches work for my clients and that we are progressing in the right direction.
I believe that incorporating one's medical health into their psychotherapy process can be helpful since our physiology and psychology profoundly affect each other. Because of my background in medical and psychiatric social work I am familiar with many medical/ surgical conditions and medications, as well as most psychotropic medications.
I specialize in Reproductive Mental Health (pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, infant/pregnancy loss). Through my work with Postpartum Support International (www.postpartum.net) since 2004, I have been an advocate for improved awareness, diagnosis, referrals and support regarding reproductive mental health.
