My focus is on helping couples overcome destructive cycles and to re-establish safety, care, and trust. Many couples get stuck in a pattern of conflict and avoidance, of blame and defensiveness. Each of you is looking for safety and comfort, but in opposite ways, and the way you're seeking it is the very thing that triggers your partner. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the most well-researched and effective treatment for couples in distress. The vast majority of couples recover from their distress, heal from their wounds, and reconnect with the love that brought you together in the first place.
I have a heart for couples who are hurting. I've been there, and I know how helpless you can feel. EFT is the gold standard for couples therapy. We'll focus on creating a safe bond between you where you can share your emotions and needs and know you'll be heard. You’ll learn how to recognize when you're stuck and how to get out of it and reconnect again.
I bring a compassionate heart to counseling, a heart that has be taught by adversity, informed by science, and transformed by grace. For 30 years I have been a hospital and hospice chaplain, a pastor, seminary professor, and couples counselor.
