Hi! My name is Courtney and I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker based in Marysville, MI and working state-wide via telehealth. I have 20 years of experience in working with adults, with a special interest in life transitions such as going to college, marriage, divorce or loss of a loved one. My therapeutic approach varies by individual client needs; however I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methods. If we can learn to think about a situation from a different perspective or lens, it can have a positive effect on our mood and behavior.
I have found my style is often a good fit for young adults, as well as adults in mid-life facing a challenging life transition. Adjusting to change can often produce feelings of anxiety, sadness and loss. I'm here to help ease symptoms of adjustment by building skills to find acceptance or a more peaceful state of mind.
My communication style often mirrors who I'm working with. I am calm, interested and attentive but can also be an energetic and motivating cheerleader when the situation calls for it. My overall communication goal is to create an environment in which my clients are comfortable to be themselves.
