Hello and welcome to Lovejoy Counseling! I am a certified Gottman Couples therapist and am here to provide you with effective interventions to address a wide variety of relationship issues. Some examples of issues that bring couples to therapy are infidelity/betrayal, unproductive arguing, differences in core needs or values, drifting apart/emotional distance, and longing for more passion and romance. The Gottmans have provided us with evidence-based tools to address all these issues and many others. At your intake session, I will be asking the two of you to tell me the story of your relationship all the way back to the beginning, and we will also be identifying your goals. The next session is an individual session in which I will be asking you about your personal history and about your perspective on the relationship issues.
There is an online assessment that I will offer you through the Gottman Institute and, at the second couple’s session, we will be going over the assessment summary and learning the Gottman foundational principles. From there, we begin to engage in the Gottman interventions that are tailored to your relationship needs.
