I am a licensed psychologist who works with adults. I use an interactive approach to treatment based on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) perspective. That means I listen but also talk, explaining concepts, sharing stories and information and using humor where appropriate. I try to mix empathic and research based interventions to help my clients grow and heal. My specialties include the treatment of depression and anxiety, couples issues, PTSD and addictions. I also work with patients with problems related to grieving and serious illness as well as those with parenting problems (including those related to adult children).
In addition, I have extensive experience working with military veterans, police officers and firefighters. My research interests include the use of couples therapy to treat alcohol addiction and also the measurement of clinical treatment outcomes. I also work with groups and individuals teaching meditation and other stress reduction techniques.
My 30 something twins think my sense of humor is a little lame but that's because they are still kids.
