I specialize in working with individuals and couples who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship issues, attachment injuries and life transitions, often integrating ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with traditional approaches for individuals, couples, and groups.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that is designed to help you understand your difficulties, find relief from distress, and make the changes you wish to make. I strive to create a supportive environment in which you can feel deeply heard and understood. Through an attentive, empathetic, and interactive style, I work to ensure that you feel safe and supported as you explore painful feelings, identify goals and develop new strategies and skills for living more fully. Working together we can find novel ways of addressing the issues that are causing you distress and start you on the path to a more satisfying life.

My ideal client is ready to work on self improvement whether it is dealing with past trauma, or with current relationships. I specialize in depression and anxiety. These are the most common afflictions in mental health but they are connected to many other issues going on in our mental health. I am also familiar with ADHD, trauma, bipolar disorder, and other disorders. I find that everyone is different and we have to find what works for you. I encourage all my clients to practice meditation and write in a journal. I like to help my clients see something they haven't seen before so they can make lasting changes.

I believe in the power of therapy and mindfulness meditation. I've been witness to the growth and flourishing of so many people, as they discover and release themselves from age-old blockages and fear. I know the power of releasing the 'inner critic' and the value of discovering 'wise mind.' My psychotherapy home office is a refuge, where you will have the space to look within, and free yourself from whatever inner cognition(s) are holding you back. I promise to bring you the most effective, evidence-based strategies, including advances in neuroscience, to increase your overall wellbeing and whole-heartedness.

My Center for Progressive Treatment is best for substance-involved individuals and their loved ones who have not reached their goals with traditional treatment, especially those who are not inclined toward 12-step (AA or NA) approaches. We believe that you, the client, 1) know what treatment will work for you (you pick from a wide array of scientifically-proven treatments vs. the traditional idea that others should decide for you); 2) already have the power to change (vs. it comes from admitting powerlessness); and 3) are your own best source of motivation (vs. it comes from external pressure or a higher power).

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
