I graduated with honors with my Masters in Family & Marriage Counseling. I am a counselor & an EMT! I still work as an EMT on an ambulance! I feel that if I’m going to help first responders & their families I still need to be in the field so I do not forget what it is like. It is an unique job with it’s own unique traumas, pains & joys. I love helping first responders and their families. I, also, love working with women. I love to help women build their self-confidence & empower them. Do you want to learn & focus on self-care? I can partner with you to teach you how to manage all the things in your life that you have to juggle.

I enjoy working with all ages of individuals, as well as couples and families while using a Cognitive Behavioral approach as well as Solution-Focused therapy.
In my practice it is a belief that each person possesses individual core strengths and resiliency to promote change for problematic issues. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth for a better future. As a previous elementary educator, I have found that combining techniques learned in the classroom as well as time spent as a therapist have allowed me to gain valuable knowledge to help the whole person.

I offer both individual and family/relationship therapy.
I specialize in supporting adults who have ADHD and military family issues. I love working with people who might call themselves “messy,” who have not lived life in the straight line they perceive others to be living Whether it is coping with overwhelm of another PCS or deployment, or fearing they'll be "discovered" as incompetent or lazy; you can trust me to hear your story, even the chapters you might hide from others. My goal is to provide you with the space to explore what is holding you back.

I am an experienced Art Therapist, former Elementary School Teacher, and Military Spouse. I understand the unpredictability our lives hold. Just when we think we have it figured out, new opportunities and challenges arrive sending us into a tail spin. As a therapist I find myself guiding my clients through life's unpredictability. Allowing them to find themselves amongst the chaos. I believe that the individual has the answers, the therapist provides a place to find them.

Offering customized help to individuals, couples and families.
Picking a psychotherapist you trust can be difficult. People who are seeking help have been hurt. Often times, sought out help in the past and have been hurt as well. I see it being hard to live this life without sustaining some sort of injury. In this way, we can all use help. We are all different in how we interpret the world around us. Reasonably, your therapy (help) matches this belief, you are unique and how you'll be helped will also be unique. Having someone not attached to the events of your life can facilitate new meaning and in turn, new choices as to how to see life now, historic injuries and where you want to go next.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
