Do you find yourself tired, feeling empty or discouraged with your relationships, career, or life in general? Do you struggle in making important decisions, on the job, as a parent, or as a spouse? To have true contentment in life we need to have a working knowledge of who we are and how our experience shape the way we think, feeling and react to others. In order to deal with life's challenges, we must fully understand who we are and how we interact with our environment and other significant people in our lives.

I've been supporting individuals and couples on their healing journeys for five years.
We innately desire connection. It has been that way since we were children. When our needs aren't met, we may pull away or panic. A breakup can feel devastating and we don't understand why it's hitting us so hard. Are you feeling anxious, worried, or overwhelmed in your partnership? If you are struggling to connect with your partner or processing a break up, we may be a good fit. We will explore the roadblocks that are getting in the way of you having healthy relationships and focus on giving yourself the love you look for in others. My specialties include trauma, depression, life transitions, and domestic violence.

My clients are individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families, and I enjoy engaging with a full spectrum of issues across the lifespan.
The word “heal” comes from “to make whole.” Psychotherapy, more aptly psyche-therapy, is a sacred process of tending to the soul wound and waking more fully to one’s aliveness and inherent wholeness. I am deeply passionate about supporting you in healing the fragmented and disowned parts of self that hinder you from living a life of meaningful connections, purposeful self-agency and joy. We work collaboratively to creatively transform unconscious and limiting belief structures, access your resiliencies, welcome emerging truths, skillfully navigate adversity with new tools, and integrate insights for profound and evolving change.

I have experience working with adolescents and young adults and enjoy working with couples and families as well.
The purpose of therapy from my perspective is working to gain understanding about yourself and the underlying rationale for what makes you you so that you can take steps to be the best version of yourself. I tailor my approach to each individual's unique needs and work with them to actively restructure the patterns of thought and behavior that are keeping them stuck and unhappy, allowing them to move through life with a greater sense of freedom, clarity, confidence and purpose. My ultimate goal is to empower individuals to live fuller, more satisfying lives.

I love helping people work through their traumatic life experiences and helping them understand the effects of those events. If this applies to you or someone you care about, I am here to walk with you as you explore those things that leave you feeling "stuck" and guide you as you move forward into a better space. I work with individuals, children, families, and couples. My training has given me special insight into how trauma is passed down through the generations and the effects those traumas have on your life today. I want to share that insight with you.

Therapy improves relationships. The individuals I work with are often tired of repeating the same patterns again and again, whether it's dating abuse, codependency, or chronic relationship conflict, anxiety, avoidance or indecision. They're ready to get to the root causes and finally make real change. Of course, all relationships start with and reflect your relationship to yourself. If you're dealing with a harsh inner critic, imposter syndrome or low self-worth, this internal relationship deserves your careful attention first.

Additionally, I am honored to be the spouse of a USAF veteran and proud mother of two incredible children.
Welcome! I work at Horizon Counseling Center as an Associate Marriage Family Therapist under the supervision of Ashley Barnes-Brown CA12766. In my practice, I employ Brainspotting, a trauma-informed therapeutic approach, to help unearth and explore thoughts, emotions, and sensations that may have been unintentionally suppressed or concealed. I also integrate Internal Family Systems therapy, which emphasizes the presence of various aspects within ourselves. According to this framework, there are no inherently "negative" parts, and the therapeutic objective is to assist these parts in discovering their more balanced functions.

Hi. I'm Kallie Cabrera-Biasotti, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I help anxious individuals feel less anxious and help disconnected couples feel more connected. Simply put, I help transform you and your relationships. Genuine connection is at the core of my work with clients. I believe it paves the way for healing and transformation when we can feel safe enough to let our guard down and allow another human being to truly see us without the fear of judgement. In the words of Dr. Diane Poole Heller, "We are hurt in relationship and we heal in relationship."

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
