A former youth minister and present university lecturer for 26 yrs, I respect issues of young people and parents. Married for 20+ years and helped raised two terrific kids, I am aware of parenting problems and joys. My divorce, single-parenting experience and mid-life crises has helped me grow and see into what others suffer. I specialize in couples counseling and adult relationships. I have been doing couples work since 1977 and also have experience teaching graduate students in Marriage and Family Counseling. Courses included Separation, Divorce and Remarriage as well as Introduction to Marriage and Family Counseling. Previously I was Director of the Counseling Center at University of Houston where I had a staff of Psychologists and trained Psychologists.

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and got my doctorate in Chicago. After my doctorate I moved to the great state of Texas 14 years ago. I have worked with people in many different settings including psychiatric hospitals, outpatient and inpatient clinics, residential treatment centers for children, and rehabilitation and long-term care centers. As a licensed psychologist I specialize in individual, couples, and family psychotherapy. I've done Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with children, adults, and older adults. I also incorporate behavioral interventions such as imagery, progressive muscle and relaxation training.

I have been in practice since 1991, specializing in relationship issues, mood disorders, addictions and spiritual issues. Many of my clients choose me because they are looking for professional competence combined with a christian perspective.
