I have been a counselor working with children, adults, and families for 25 years. I believe individuals have the strengths and resources to solve challenges in their lives and my job as a counselor is to help you discover how to use them to bring about change. I have worked with survivors of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse and have extensive experience working with children with behavioral and emotional issues and supporting parents in these situations. I work effectively with those dealing with depression and anxiety as well as other mental health diagnoses that are causing discomfort.

My practical view of the function of counseling is as a journey of self-exploration by the client, meant to increase his/her level of self-understanding and self-awareness. I as counselor act as the guide or facilitator of this journey. On some level of consciousness based on his/her experience in life, I believe the client is in possession of the answers to his questions. It is my job to make those answers explicit. It is my job to help clients identify, develop, and mobilize their own resources to successfully solve problems and meet challenges.

My clients often come to counseling feeling broken and lost from grief and unresolved trauma, struggling with anxiety, fear and depression. Past experiences may have led them to believe they are only their brokenness, clouding any other awareness of who they are or what their life holds. I offer a safe, supportive environment to begin to explore those experiences and discover strength, healing, and resilience.
