Life is like the ocean. Most of the time, it's smooth sailing in calm waters. Sometimes, the waves get rough, we lose sight of the shore, or may even find ourselves adrift. Counseling can be a safe place of acceptance and compassion where client and therapist work together to help anchor the client back to their personal place of hope and well-being. My approach to therapy is grounded in the emotional human experience, with a Christian framework. I love to work with individuals and couples. I have a passion for couples and families in all stages of life, including those who struggle with infidelity, communication breakdown, step-families, and parent-child conflict. Family is one of the most important aspects of our life, so when we are struggling in those relationships, life in general often seems more difficult. We want to be able to thrive in marriage and family relationships, rather than merely survive. Along with couples/families, working with individuals brings me so much joy! Working together we can explore the origins and factors that contribute to hurts and hang-ups, striving for growth and desired change.

*** Currently Accepting new clients! *** I am an interpersonal process/person-centered therapist. I believe that many clients experience mental health concerns that are interpersonal in nature. This could include relationships with spouse/partner, family, siblings, co-workers, employers, God and/or SELF. Within relationships we experience our emotions and our therapeutic relationship becomes a tool for addressing these concerns. I tend to be a direct therapist and share my feelings, thoughts and reactions. I use a lot of metaphor and narrative in therapy and expect clients to come prepared to talk about things in therapy.

I view persons as made up of emotions, thoughts, relationships, biology, and our spiritual selves. Consequently, I first help you stabilize by making necessary changes in behavior. Medical or neurological contributions and possible nutritional deficiencies are examined. I address any distorted thinking that is contributing to your emotional pain. If systems in your life (family, work, school) are a factor, they are also addressed. Finally, we work with the larger questions of existence (spiritual issues, issues of purpose/ meaning), which are all vital to mental health. All areas are dealt with from a solid grounding in scientific literature and research.

Relationships are often the most difficult part of our lives. While they may provide companionship and comfort, they can also be a source of conflict and pain. Regardless of who we are or from where we came, we will each face life events that challenge our sense of self. Our response to each event - a crossroad - can shape the remainder of our journey.
