I am currently offering sessions on weekends and evenings for individuals or couples.
Breaking the stigma of mental health begins by choosing to be healthy for yourself. Trusting someone is difficult, especially when struggling with mental health, because it makes us feel vulnerable. Please know vulnerability is not a weakness. My passion is helping, including creating a comfortable space that allows individuals to be their authentic selves. We all have a story that includes various experiences. I enjoy helping individuals to gain an understanding of their stories to provide them with clarity and empowerment. My experience includes domestic violence, trauma, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders.

Among many areas of interest, I primarily work with: teens, couples, women, LGBTQ+ folks; and individuals who are diagnosed with/suspect they may have Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), a disorder I have myself.
Whether you are navigating life changes, facing depression, anxiety, or dealing with loss, stress, or difficult relationships - I am here for you. I believe that therapy is an essential part of personal growth, mental health management and healing trauma. As a therapist, I value authenticity, striving to create a relaxed environment, offer inclusive, culturally sensitive and client centered therapy to individuals, couples, and families. I hope to walk alongside my clients through the vulnerable therapeutic process as they learn, grow, and heal. I offer both in-person and Telehealth services to individuals and couples in Tennessee.

When you are hurting you need someone to talk to who will help you figure out what to do. There are always changes we can make to be less miserable. I particularly enjoy working with couples having marital problems, with teenagers, and with people dealing with grief and loss.

I provide psychotherapy for adults using a variety of treatment modalities. I most often work from a psychodynamic perspective, exploring how current behaviors and emotions relate to earlier experiences and relationships. I also work with couples in therapy to facilitate improved relationships and develop effective communication skills.

I am an experienced trauma therapist who works with couples and individuals.
Beginning the process of therapy can be overwhelming. For people who have experienced trauma and adversity, everything can feel connected. It's disorienting, confusing. Where do you start? My approach is tailored to those who need simplicity and a grounded direction. I offer a friendly, supportive environment where clients can work towards their goals with clarity and mindfulness.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
