Dr Amy Sue Ott PhD LPC. My practice is centered around the belief that problems can overtake us at any moment large or small; asking for help is not a display of weakness but a sign of strength. My experience includes therapy with clients who have experienced trauma (childhood, relationship, or military) ptsd, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, life transitions, job loss, difficulty managing life stressors.

I feel a "calling" to help adults and teens through counseling! I offer clients deep compassion, unconditional acceptance, and understanding. Often we believe the worst about ourselves! We lose sight of our own value, our own beauty, and self worth. We become depressed or constantly anxious, feel lost, maybe even broken on the inside. But, counseling can change that! I provide a safe environment that is consistently supportive, empathetic, and empowering! I graduated from the University of South Dakota with my Master of Social Work degree. Throughout my career I have enjoyed working with a variety of clients and have experience with children, adolescents and adults in group, couples and individual therapy. My career has given me the opportunity to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings along with providing telehealth therapy services to individuals across SD.

I have over 35 years of experience in the combined fields of counseling and behavioral health. Counseling is offered in a safe and supportive environment, I work with you to help release unwanted patterns/beliefs, unresolved old feelings that blocking personal power. Some of my techniques include Conventional Therapy, CBT, REBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing. Whether you are stuck in the past, struggling with life's up & downs, unsure about your future or have experience trauma. We can work together to find resolutions to your symptoms so you can experience a more fulfilling, happier and meaningful life.

Counseling is about making positive changes in ourselves, our relationships, and the way we view our world. As a therapist, it's my job to help patients solve and cope with problems in their everyday lives and diagnose and treat mental, behavioral, and emotional issues. My clinical approach begins with recognizing client strengths with a holistic approach; by incorporating all parts of an individual, from emotional to physical, mental to social, financial, and so on, we can create a plan individualized to you and your specific needs.

I have both education and life experiences that compliment each other to understand needs of clients. I believe that my training in the field of social work has prepared me to provide you with tools that will complement your current treatment or to use as an alternative and allow you to move forward to find balance in your life.

I provide virtual telehealth therapy services for all ages from 13-100 years. Not here to judge, but to offer support and acceptance. I welcome all types of people to counseling. Come as you are! I will accept any and all issues! I enjoy getting to know you in a genuine way. I will help you to sort through life's challenges weather it is family, personal, faith, relationships, identity, grief, mood, self esteem, confidence, depression, anxiety or anything else.

Taking a few new clients. In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer there is the Island of Misfit Toys, filled with playthings that seek love but are rejected because they don’t function like traditional toys. Many people we work with feel the same way. They have beautiful personalities, but for one reason or another they just don’t “fit.” Sometimes that shows up through troubles at work or home. Sometimes people just can’t get out of bed each morning. Whatever your challenge, we want you to know you have a home. At Credo, we’ll help you embrace what is unique in you and navigate what often feels like a foreign world.

I have worked with all ages, as well as individuals, couples and families with a variety of challenges. I have specialty training in family therapy, helping families dealing with challenging behaviors and communication. I am trauma focused, cognitive behavioral therapy trained. I am also EMDR trained. I have facilitated group therapy for parenting and will be doing more groups on other issues. I am solution focused and offer unconditional, positive regard for all. This is an LGBTQ+ safe space.
