I work with neurodiverse couples as well as parents.
I am passionate about assisting neurodiverse clients on their own journeys to a more fulfilled life. Together we work towards understanding an ASD or ADHD diagnosis and how this may influence life experiences at all stages of life. Maybe you are struggling with self-acceptance or a healthy sense of self? I believe everyone has the possibility for change and to thrive. We will work on integrating all areas of your life, setting realistic goals and personal growth. What are the patterns of thinking and behavior that may be keeping you “stuck?” We will use your strengths to help navigate life’s transitions & obstacles.

Do you feel like you keep having the same fight over and over again with your partner? Are you communicating but it's not clicking? Do you want to feel closer to your partner? Has there been a breach of trust? Are you looking to navigate a new season of life together? Are you thinking that you aren't happy in the relationship now, but you still love them so you don't want to give up on it? Maybe you're hoping that couples therapy can help, and even make your bond stronger in the end? Or maybe you want to invest in your relationship by taking the time to explore potential challenges BEFORE they become big issues?

I have extensive training and education in the fields of addiction, eating disorders and relationship issues.
The first step towards change begins with seeking support outside yourself. It is a daunting and frightening choice for many. The relief from sharing whatever you are struggling with can bring tremendous and sometimes immediate relief. It is the first bridge towards change. Being at peace with yourself is an important part of healing and growth. I am a dedicated and conscientious professional and will respond promptly to anyone who seeks help.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
