I work with people on a wide array of issues: relationship challenges, separation/divorce, anxiety, depression, self-esteem/image, prenatal, grief/loss, crisis management, entrepreneurs, and creatives.
Welcome. I am here to help you. There are times and stages of our lives where we are feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, confused, or proactively seeking clarity on specific issues, and in need of deeper insight into how to cope with challenges. I use a collaborative and experiential approach, honoring your cultural strengths to support you through what motivates you and triggers you, and identify effective and meaningful ways of being. In psychotherapy, you have a safe space to share your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Sometimes we just need professional guidance to get us to the right level of understanding to potentiate change.

Are you looking to make a shift? I am licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I believe therapy can be seen as a process of unpacking. Things often go unsaid, which can manifest into various effects on the body, such as anxiety. Although staying with your emotions can be difficult, it can often be the pathway to healing. My clinical experience has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of our environment and relationships, as well as the positive shifts that can take place when offered supportive and validating resources.

Now imagine going through the day without having an argument with your parent or spouse and not dreading the next conversation.
I work best with South Asian clients who are ages 12 & up and are struggling with being motivated in school, at home or amongst their peers or in their relationship. Client often gets into a power struggle with their parent/guardian, teachers or significant other and the root cause can be anxiety, depression, anger, self-esteem and/or trauma. Clients who experience such concerns often have a tough time putting their emotions into words and feel overwhelmed by the daily tasks that are being demanded from them. Clients will begin to learn how and why they communicate the way they do to become a better version of themselves.

My goal is to create a safe, comfortable and open environment that can foster a positive therapeutic relationship to help the client achieve their goals.
Similar to how people workout their bodies, the brain also needs to be exercised and maintained. Therapy allows you to not only better yourself, situation or life but it allows you to cleanse your mind and stay mentally healthy. Mental health is something that can impact an individual’s life in numerous ways; such as daily activities, relationships, personality or even cause physical symptoms to arise. Coming from a culturally diverse background, my mission professionally is to create awareness for mental health in minority communities that may view mental health as a taboo.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
