I am most effective with clients who are looking to change patterns of relationship or behavior that have become problematic in their lives. Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, coping with traumatic experience, or an unhappy relationship, I will seek to work creatively with you to understand yourself with compassion and move toward the changes in your life that you are seeking. Often this process involves exploring how past experiences influence your current life, combined with developing practical ways to shift patterns in the present.
I generally work with individuals or couples in one time weekly sessions, but we will create a collaborative plan that best meets your needs. Although I draw from many different perspectives in an effort to understand and support you deeply and effectively, I start with the basic assumption that change happens in the context of healing relationship.
We humans are relational creatures and we function best when we are in positive and supportive relationship with ourselves and others. Loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, eating issues and difficult relationships with important people in our lives deeply impact our ability to have these positive relationships. Psychotherapy is about healing in relationship.
